Hello. My name is C.J. I've been gardening for about 20 years, although not really seriously until about 10 years ago, when I started getting a bit more creative, making new items, designing areas, points of interest, etc. Still very much the amateur though, but I guess the woodwork, art and technical drawing that I learned at school is starting to come in handy, as I tend to draw things on paper before committing myself to any project, no matter a small or large area. Just to get an idea of where I intend to go with each idea and how it may look on completion. I'm very interested in trying my hand at garden design, just the drawing of plans, as a personal project. The theme for the garden/park which I am concentrating on at the moment,is based on my interest in the Anglo-Zulu War 1879. So, representations of wagons, mountains, waterfalls, etc., as well as South African plants and designs based on Zulu shields, etc. Regarding the wagons, I've seen fantastic chairs and benches with actual wagon wheels attached, as either the back of the seat or sides. Also, wonderful monoliths, stand-alone rocks that look quite impressive. I'm considering various other ideas connected to this project. Looking forward to learning more on this site and hopefully add information which may be of use to fellow gardeners.

    C.J.

Hi there Jitterbug!! Sorry I'm so late in welcoming you to our forums but, here in Scotland, you have to garden when the weather allows. Today it was dry, for once, and the sun actually came out. :D

Lovely to have you here. :D Pull up a chair and join in - you'll soon feel right at home.

Great first post C.J! Welcome to GardenStew :smt039 I love the idea of the Anglo-Zulu War theme, certainly unique. You sound very talented. Do you have any photos? I would love to see those.

I agree with you about getting designs down on paper first before attempting to start on a project. My Software Development course in college drilled that little gem into my head :p

Enjoy the site, I'm sure we will have lots of good times ahead :D
