I use my crockpot for pot roasts, Bar-B-Q beef ribs (or chicken), chicken and rice soup(or noodles)and any kind of beef, chicken or ham with bean, pea, barley, rice for soups. I think I'd miss my crock pot and kitchen aid center more than any other kitchen gadgets I've got. The electric meat slicer is nice but isn't used as much as the others but it does it's job a lot better than my knife and I do!

Well. I said I didn't have many or any...but, as I am cleaning out and returning items top the cupboards and cabinets.... I have found a whole collection of things that are getting tossed and a few I am not positive what I should do with them since I usually spent a few bucks on them, like the pampered chef stuff. I have a NordicWare waffle iron that is for the stove or maybe camping I suppose, a pampered chef chopper, a few Henn bowls, a bit of Tupperware, large wire pan whisk, Pampered Chef stone ware.. 4 bread/loaf pans, 2 muffin stones, 2 mini loaf pans, a 9x13 casserole and a lid for to double as a dutch oven, a smaller cranberry glazed one, several pizza and rec. baking stones...hmmm. more than I thought so far.

I ditched my electric can opener because I was faster with the old hand twist one!

I just cleaned out my cupboards again and got rid of a few more things I don't use ... a small doughnut maker, a bunch of plastic containers and lids, sippy cups, kiddy dishes and 2 microwave bacon trays. I got an air cooker for Christmas and so the deep fryer is going too. I am also slowly getting rid of any no stick pans and going back to using my cast iron pans.

Once I realized I can put plain kernels in a paperbag & microwave approximately 3mins., I no longer needed it.

Last weekend I trolled a few yard sales and saw something interesting in one of them.
I spied a box with various kitchen items, one being a plastic 'lazy-Susan' type of organizer
with several small utensils stuffed inside it. Without really going through everything I offered
the seller $5 for the whole box; it was about mid day and figured they just wanted to get rid of
what they could. He glanced through the box and pulled out 2 items which he could not part
with for that paltry sum. One was an electric ice-cream scoop - literally a non-stick scoop
attached to an electric cord. The other was this loop contraption with a handle, he explained it
was a jar opener. Learned something new with those.
There were many knives and interesting items inside the organizer - well worth the $5 I gave.

The electric can opener I find most useless. I have two and they both are way back in the cupboard. They will be going to good will next time they call. I got a crock pot last year and I am still learning to use it. I wouldn't part with it though. I love to cook my ham in it. Just have to do some more experimenting.

Chrisle, I have a slow cooker (another name for a crock pot) and I love it! I make pulled pork, pot roast, ham like you do, and even some soups. I have found that adding just a tad more liquid than the recipe calls for helps, and adding any seasoning (other than herbs) during the last half hour keeps the seasoning from either disappearing, or becoming too strong, depending on what you are using.
