large plant with three large broad leaves

    well, i have done research, and waited, and waited. Iamb sure that it is some sort of amaryllis plant. my question is now, why won't it flower?

    Glad you figured out the ID. For future reference, those leaves are long, but not broad (which is the same as wide.)

    Without knowing anything about your location, whether or not your bulb is in a pot, or anything about its' conditions, it's impossible to say why it won't flower. The general answer though would be that the conditions required for such are not being met, either light, nutrition, temperature, or a combination of these are not suitable for blooming.
