Here are two short paragraphs I found about the film The Navigator. The full title is actually "The Flight of the Navigator" but it became known simply as "The Navigator" and was very popular in it's time. A 12 year old boy goes missing in 1978, only to reappear once more in 1986. In the eight years that have passed, David hasn't aged. It is no coincidence that at the time that David 'comes back', a flying saucer is found, entangled in electricity cables. After his mystifying disappearance aboard a spectacular, futuristic spacecraft, David Freeman returns to earth possessing vast, undiscovered knowledge about the farthest reaches of the universe. With these sudden navigational powers, David is able to take the fantastic flying machine anywhere he desires. Also has a cute little alien in it!!! Nice light entertainment when the children were younger. The film was first shown in 1986 so it's a bit of an oldie.
Hey I have seen that movie Eileen. I really remember the spaceship, it looked wicked. It was silver and kind of looked like a shell. I remember it was a good movie as well and also that I wished I was the kid. Thanks for the memories Eileen!
Aaaaww shucks - glad to be of help!! Have you seen any of the Star Wars films? We have the first three on video. I think I'll wait until the 6th and last one comes on sale and then buy the whole lot on DVD for Ian. At first I thought they weren't to my taste but I must admit they grew on me and now I'm looking forward to having the complete set in our collection. 8)
Yeah I've seen them all and have to admit they have gotten increasingly bad over the years. Star Wars IV - A New Hope was great but Star Wars II - Attack Of The Clones was absolutely dire. Special effects overload. Only Star Wars II - Revenge Of The Sith can break the bad cycle and I think it will. But it will still not be a patch on the old ones.
Mmmmm, I'll revise what I said earlier then and I'll rent them first. Doesn't sound as though I'll be spending my money on them after all though. Just remembered a film that I found hilarious!! "101 dalmations" - not the cartoon one but the one with Glen Close in it - my daughter, Laura and myself watched it when she came to visit a while back, FAR superior to the cartoon as the casting was excellent. Sometimes there are real advantages to having children!!!!
Never seen 101 Dalmations, must check it out. This thread is bringing back some great memories - two other movies I loved but haven't seen in years are Young Sherlock Holmes and the brilliant Gremlins! Gremlins is sooo good!
Yes, yes and yes again!! I LOVED Gremlins. I'd forgotten about Short Circuit - but was it fun. I've actually watched it 3 or 4 times. This thread is great isn't it? I won't be adding much to the forums for the next couple of days (It's Ian's dads funeral on Thursday and things are all over the place at the moment) but don't worry I'll pop in as often as I can as I think I'm totally addicted to here now. I'll try to remember more films to chat about in the meantime.
No probs Eileen. Sorry to hear about Ian's dad I will try to think of more movies as well. I'm sure we can continue this thread (and of course others are welcome to join in as well )
Another couple of films that I've thoroughly enjoyed - "Turner and Hooch" and "Beethoven" both great fun and as I have a great fondness for dogs they were films that appealed to me. There was another one about an alsatian..... I think it was called K9...... hilarious!!! Have you seen any of these ones?
Yes I've seen all 3. K9 was my fave of the 3 although Turner and Hooch had a real cool dog. Beethoven was not to my liking though Have you seen Big and Vice Versa? I liked those as well.
Turner and Hooch was my favourite - loved the dog drool and that ugly face. Then K9 with Beethhoven coming in third. Really did NOT like Beethhoven 2 one little bit - overkill - they should never have made the second one. Yep seen both of those too!!! I think I prefered Big. One film I really did enjoy was "Mrs Brown." Billy Connally was superb. The ending was rather sad though and actually brought a lump to my throat, which is unusual for me, as films don't usually make me overly emotional.
I haven't seen Mrs Brown either. I'm falling behind! Too much GardenStewing I think. Going slighty off topic, Doctor Who is back on the telly and I'm well chuffed. Glad to see it back.
Must admit to not being a [/i]great fan of the origional lot but did watch them all (had no option as Ian is Dr. Who mad ) I like this new series though and will be glued to the set from now on. What other TV series have you enjoyed?
