Hee,hee, hee....I know what you mean, MART-- I have spells of impatience myself from time to time. That is one thing that gardening is good for--working-off frustrations and so forth. Well, I shall keep an eye out for one of those cones like yours. Glad that you liked this posting, THERESE--It was easy to make and i was pleased with the flavour.
I have several gallon bags of grapes in the freezer !! Always have way more than we can eat as jelly !! Mine are muscadine types so better as jelly or wine than eating fresh !!
Say Mart--if you freeze those grapes in, when you are ready to make jam or jelly and you take them out of the freezer --will the freezing process have made them fall apart? I can imagine that the making of jelly or jam would be easier if the frozen fruit were falling apart a bit. I always freeze in my extra strawbs and blueberries...I've never had grapes on my lottie. I may ask the woman if I could have more grapes, She has quite a few vines but never does anything with her ripe grapes. Such a waste. Last year there were many grapes just moulding with fungus on the vine. I was surprised to hear how may grapes you have. That is good.
When I first canning I kept 50 quart jars of grape jelly in my pantry. My daughter, Lil Debbie, loved "graple". I also used to can a large amount of grape juice for her. Did you guys know that you can buy fresh or frozen grape juice and make your jelly with that???
Why no, I had no idea...however, my idea is not to actually buy any supplies to make it. I like the idea that it comes from off the lottie complex, y'know? I saw that you called your daughter "Lil Debbie". It brings back to mind that when I spent time over there, I developed a weakness for a certain type of junk food---Have you guessed it?--Lil Debbie Oatmeal cookiies. Any person that I tell this to, just laughs me out of the tent. They think that I have gone round the bend. Ach, but I cant help it, the taste just appeals to me--the soft oatmeal, the sweet, white filling....oh dear.
Sjoerd, Well, I always used grapes to make Lil Debbies jelly but a few times I have used juice for hubby and myself for we only use about half pint in 6 months. We really don't use jams or jellies anymore... No Sjoerd, When my Lil Debbie was a little one, she identified with the package. Her grandma always made sure she had the special treat...She thought they made them for her... LOL So while we had Lil Debbie with us on this earth, she had just your favorite cookies in her kitchen at all times. Now when we pass them in the store we smile sweetly to each other and ask if we should buy some of them... Bitter sweet memories... Of course, she was the Lil one in our family. The bigger one was my sister, Debbie. I named her after my sister. Now they are in heaven together probably eating Lil Debbie Oatmeal Cookies..... LOL
Chuckle...I'll bet they are. I once asked "the Big Man" if there would be Lil Debbies for me up there when I arrived....He said that there most certainly would be Lil Debbies on hand; but then added, "...however it remains to be seen if you will be joining us". "Goodness gracious me!...", I nervously responded..."but they don't taste good crispy". He raised an eyebrouw, looked over at Peter and said, "I'm afraid we're going to have trouble with this one"
