Empathy coming his way. No motorcycling for a while then!

Oh EJ, what a shame, is there room enough for my wife Mimi to join you in that safe room of yours? She too would like to have a few seconds back to correct an errant move.

Thanks for all your kind wishes. He is taking strong painkillers and limping around, bless him. :) He is back in the hospital tomorrow to see the surgeon. The thing that catches him out, and makes the air blue, is when he catches his foot on something, or the kids touch it as they run past.
Sjoerd, the blood blister was on the side of his toe, not under the nail. The toe is so tightly bandaged up now I have no idea if his toe is black and blue or what!!

So, plenty of you fancy our padded, cotton wool soft room for a rest. :)

I will let you know the outcome tomorrow.

Ok Emma. I gather from your description that he must have quite a haematoms in his toe. Perhaps they did not drain the blood blister under his nail since most of the toes was crushed anyway.
I hope that Ava will be pretty much pain-free soon.
It is so nice of you to keep us posted tomorrow.
    Fingers crossed for him.

So, today he saw the fracture specialist and they squeezed and poked his poor sore toe. The surgeon has decided that because of the swelling they would strap the toes altogether very tightly, and then he has to go back in 2 weeks for another series of x-rays and they will make a decision then re surgery. The bone is broken in 4 pieces plus lots of little bits. I think it is the little bits that are the concern. They are pleased that the toenail is intact as that in itself acts like a splint helping the toe to retain the correct shape. He is supposed to rest it as much as possible and keep it elevated as much as possible. So, there you have it, my poor old hop along! I will keep you updated when he has been back again, if he hasn't driven me around the bend before. :)

I hope that Mark is following orders and keeping that foot elevated and resting as much as he can. It's not easy for someone who's usually so active though is it? Thank goodness the nail is still there otherwise it could have been even worse than it is. Fingers crossed that his pain lessens soon.

Thanks for the update, EJ. It is going to be quite awhile before that toe is completely normal, isn't it? Comminuted fractures are known for taking a a while to heal.
It will be interesting to know what, if anything, they will further do aid in the healing of that toe.
Wishing you lots of strength in the coming days.
Is the pain medication working well for him?
