great mice stories all! i can relate to each and every one of them, including the kitties that are scared of them! long time ago hubby had set a trap to catch a mouse chewing on our propane stove wires. early in the morning, the poor thing got his tail caught in the trap and was running all over the kitchen with the trap behind him. the noise and weirdness of it all scared the kitty so much that he never went after another mouse again! :-D

I myself always have an internal struggle when i come across a mouse. On one hand I want to scream and stand on a chair and let my cat have a go at getting it. But then once she catches it I get sad and distract her so she lets it go.
I know they are pests, but they are still living creatures and I hate to see one dead.
Anyone else out there with the same problem or am I just weird.

Oh my no, I am the same way, Blondcat. When I had the mouse problem a few years ago, I encountered a mouse sitting under the china cabinet one morning and I said "Hey Mouse, you better get out of here, I have three cats!" and opened the front door and he ran out. Too bad, his friends didn't listen to me. So I got some of those little traps that catches them live so you can let them go (I know, I know, it's over the top). Every morning and evening, that is what I would do -- let the little creatures go. At first I was just letting them go out behind the garage, but apparently they were just coming back in because I'm telling you, I think I was starting to recognize those mice by their ears and noses! After a few days, I started taking them (in my car, on my way to work, crazy, I know) to the park that is about 6 blocks away. Then the number of mice I caught went down quickly and within a couple of days, the mouse problem was settled. They had all, no doubt, found new homes in the houses near the park... Oh dear... that part was not so good... but, that is what I did.

By the way, Bunkie, I laughed so hard at your mouse story! That must have been a hoot.
