Love the burst of color. Mums are a favorite of mine as is rainbow chard. I don't even mind not getting any blooms if they are there bringing color.

Thanks so much. I do love mums, but mine are already showing some age. And this dry windy weather are not going to do them any good at all. Soon, I shall have to give them a good haircut and hope for good results next year.

Jan, looking back at old posts and found this. Does the dwarf ginger bloom? I also remember a plant you had call duranta. I have never seen it in the nurseries around here. Did you get it locally?

Dwarf ginger does bloom, but it is insignificant, just a small pink bloom. It does look nice where there is a grouping of the ginger tho.
You can get duranta most anywhere around here. I don't know yet if I lost it during those hard freezes we had last month. It is kinda not all that hardy, but I had them at the other house and they did find through the northshore freezes. The one that is left at the other house is over 6' tall now and was flourishing when we drove past the lot the other day. My poor baby here is just sticks now. You can always ask the nursery to get one for you. Or you could get as many as you want when you drive over here in the spring.
