Thank you so much Philip! My very own yellow roses and no chance of me killing them.
I promised myself that I'd give my grandmother's old rose bush one more year to do well. If it doesn't, I'm going to try a yellow one in it's place.

Philip I have to say I to wish I could grow roses like you do. Those are gorgeous. I have a black thumb when it comes to roses. Two years ago I bought a yellow hedge rose figuring they were a lot hardier than reg. roses. But alas :'( it died on me also. Oh well I can enjoy pic's of yours. ;)

    Hi Tooty2shoes,
i am just lucky with roses,..though i admit i use homemade sprays to get rid of or prevent disease and insects,..and its a battle as we have damp conditions here and if roses don't get a chance to dry off they get Mildew,..i do get rust quite a lot as i go abroad and leave the roses to fend for themselves,..they need attention as soon as i return home.

One very hardy rose to grow ANYWHERE i would say are Rugosas,..they survive extreme heat and cold,..worth trying to get from a supplier.

Foxton Locks are the largest flight of staircase locks in England,..consisting of 10 canal locks enabling a narrow boat to navigate up a very steep hill.

Seeing Molly's happy face always makes me smile!

I've always been fascinated about how locks work. That one would be on my "must see list" if I ever got out that way. Such a beautiful area!

    Hi Cheryl,
Molly either makes me smile or ask,.. whats up,..she has a few bemusing expressions,..one is a total blank,.. and that one can be eerie, lol.

Those locks were facinating to watch,..wondering how they contain the water for each narrow boat,.. seeing it was such a steep hill you expect the water to flow away downhill,..but they had small reservoirs along the way,..very clever engineering.

The Red Rose City of Petra is one of the seven wonders of the world,..it was not known to the western world until 1812.

Petra was established around the 6th century BC,..it lies on the slope of Mount Hor in a valley running from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba.

I was based in the region and spent some time in Jerusalem.

    Hi Carolyn,
hard to believe it was built in the 6th century BC,..i suppose mostly built or hewn out of the mountainside by hand tools,..to gain access to the city there is only a small gap in a canyon wide enough for two horses side by side,..one of the Indiana Jones Films was shot there,..or part of it,..this in the film was supposed to be the location of the Holy Grail.

I watched the video, and it's always amazing how one can consider theirself so 'knowledgeable' with gardening and along comes a picture of a garden and you have absolutely no idea what that plant is. And how everbody (gardeners) interpret their own idea of what a garden should be. I have a feeling that if you were to have another garden, it would have the same theme. My friend once told me he could always tell if it was my garden just by the way it looked.

And 'Jelly Fish' is too cool.

You are certainly correct in saying if i had another garden it would look like the present one,..that has come about in the past on more than one occasion,..i believe if a person lives with a garden they see the picture in their mind how they want it to appear,.. then over time fit the pieces together to try and complete that picture,..the joy is you seldom fully complete,..so you keep working on it.

Delighted you liked 'Jelly Fish',..its not an apt name for a lake boat but i dare not change the name.

The Blue Lobelia way back on the first page is all I need. Or is it purple. Is it true that gardeners come to blows over what the real color actually is?
