Hi Eileen, we had a very good season in the garden,..the wind rain and frost really kept away and we only had 5 mins of snow while other counties had heavy snowfalls. Our Daffodils,..Crocus,..Primrose and Forsythia are all in bloom since the start of our traditional Spring,..1st of Feb,..the 21st of March is the official time. ======================================================= Hi Barb, thank you,..i am glad to be back,..i was away with the Fairies for a spell, lol.
Imagine, you had all those lovely blooms while we had frost, rain and more frost! I especially liked the foxgloves and those black-and-white "blooms". Now, please show the crocus, primroses and Forsythia.
Wow... would you look at all those lovely blooms! That terrarium is so cute! It's great to have you back... I missed seeing all your roses.
Hi Droopy, i will take some Spring pictures as soon as the rain stops,..sigh!. I had the opportunity in the last few days seeing it was sunny but just kept putting it off,..all the nice Spring flowers are in my friends Marie and Dave's garden,..oh except i have the Forsythia. ======================================================= Hi Cheryl, i really am pleased about the Terrarium though it was hard finding a suitable plant,..the miniature Cyclamen fits the bill along with miniature ferns and some moss. Oh lots of new roses for the coming summer. The Skellig's are on the west coast of Ireland as is the Cliffs of Moher,..the first recorded history of the Skellig's was in the year 490 AD when King Duach of Munster was chased by King of Carhel. In the 6th Century a Monastic Settlement was founded,..the lives of the Monks still remains a mystery. Vikings raided the settlement in 795 AD,..812 AD,..833 AD and 839 AD,..despite this the community survived. Cliffs of Moher is a great visitor attraction with fantastic views and bird life. Philip, I love that terrarium you have there. I have never seen one like that before. WOW! Thanks for sharing. I don't do a very good job of going places and taking pictures and sharing them. I think "oh, this isn't anything special" since I see it all the time. I so appreciate when others do this. I will try to do better.
Hi Carolyn,..i came across that terrarium by accident,..i was looking for something to grow my two Clivia Plants in,..asked my local Florist come Veg Supplier did he have anything suitable,..he said he had a pear shaped glass THING in the basement for years and it might suit,..he sold it to me at half price seeing nobody was ever interested in it when it was on display,..its quite big,..18 inches high and 12 inches wide,..there is a nice hole at the top so i stuck a wire down and secured it with a hardwood ring. Oh The Skellig's were occupied by Monks whose lives are a much of a mystery,..they must have thought that they were safe in such an isolated location,..until along came the Vikings.
This video is,..April In My Garden,..showing the few spring flowers in bloom,..Primrose,..Cowslip,..Variegated Wallflower,..Cape Daisy and Lungworth. Video===April In My Garden. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden )
Beautiful Philip! You have so much in bloom. I particularly like the primroses. What is the string of ?fruits growing in long racemes-like structures?
Hi Cayuga Morning,..those fruit like growths are on my "Mahonia Japonica",..they turn dark blue later in the summer,..this bush/tree is almost nine foot tall and also produces masses of yellow flowers way up to November. wow! I guess that Japonica doesn't mind a little bit of snow either. Sure is pretty... like everything else you have over there.
Hi Cheryl,..that poor tree was ignored for years,..i got it from a cutting and it seemed very insignificant until it started to go through its phases of fruits in green then plum colour and then the flowers surprised me,..i now like it lol. Everything is suddenly ready to come into bloom,..i have to check every morning to see whats new.
