2ofus,..thank you for viewing the Video,..it was a tad long lol,..not my longest which was close to 30 mins,..thankfully since then i am trying to keep them short.

I agree with you that different colored roses are enhanced when close to each other,..the yellow roses i have start off deep yellow then fade to light and finally turn white,..every so often all three phases will appear close together and it looks stunning.

Touch wood,..so far my Mallow have only self seeded in one spot and only one plant,..i did divide the plants near my back door and now have two good areas of them,..hope they don't self seed,..just thinking about that,.. perhaps i cut off the heads before the seeds dropped,..i am forever dead heading lol.

Some say,.. A Rose,.. Is A Rose,.. Is A Rose,..i don't go along with that as they are all beautiful and look so different,..i have Red Roses that look similar to each other though they are not related,..i have names for some of my roses and no names for most,.. as they are cross bred,..however this week i lost the plot and thought that a rose which i have no name for looked VERY similar to a rose i have a name for,..the rose below is.
Rose ( Rosa 'Handel' )...Three pictures of it as it changes color.

They do look very similar Philip but I don't think they ARE the same rose. However, I'm no expert so will leave it to others to see what they think.

I just think roses are beautiful - all of them. I'm not growing roses here on the Island. Too wet usually and not enough hot sun so my past experience is that they end up suffering all manner of ills except for (oh geez old age just struck and now I can't get the word I'm thinking about) the real old fashioned wild roses. Love seeing the bright red rose hips from them in the fall too.

Was out for a walk (camera in hand) and came across these growing through a fence. They're not mine and nothing else around at all was flowering but these guys definitely added a bright bit to the walk.

Philip, agree with Eileen. I'm no rose expert at all but they just don't seem like the same one.

Eileen and 2ofus,..i was hoping they were the same for the sake of having a name for the No ID one,..i agree with both of you they are not the same,..sometimes we don't see what others see and i thought perhaps my old eyes were missing something.

Islandlife,..nice roses growing through the wire fence,..they will grow under most conditions,..full sun,..semi shade,..hot weather,..survive snow,.. and like where i live its on record we have 200 days of rain yearly,..sadly its pouring rain just now,..very fine drops but a heavy downpour.

@Philip - Your lilies are lovely :) Amazing how rain on a flower enhances it. In your fourth photo down on the LEFT there is a plant with a heavy stalk and pointed green leaves. Has a real tropical look to it. What is that please?

Same photo but on the right - the small red flowers - are these fuchsias? Can't tell from the photo but are they growing in a basket? Or is this a bush?

Some people seem very luck with roses here but I also think it is more than just luck it is knowing which variety grows best here. If I was to try roses I think I'd go with the older varieties vs the newer hybrids. I have a sense (but I could also be totally wrong) that the older varieties are hardier than the new hybrids. Nothing factual to base this on just my perception of roses here.

Philip your garden must be so lovely with all the colourful blooms you show us. How I wish mine were even half as beautiful.

Thank you!,..ah yes i was just comparing the two Lollipop Lilies and the one with the raindrops looks the more attractive.

The first photo with the small red flowers is indeed a Fuchsia,..its Fuchsia magellancia,..its a big bush,..about eight foot wide and even taller that is it below.

    IMG_2734.jpg

The other Tree i suppose it really is at this stage is Yucca alofolia or Spanish Bayonet because of its VERY needle like points on the tips of the leaf,..seen below,..its over 12 years old.

Eileen,..the garden looks fantastic just now with so many blooms enhanced with all the raindrops,..i am constantly looking out as when the sun shines there are so many blooms opening up at an hourly rate,..the downside is there are so many tall plants that to venture out in the paths when the plants are wet one would need rain gear with drops falling off,..i hate it when they drop down the back of my neck lol.

Hydrangeas are in bloom,..i noticed i made a mistake when adding colorant to a pink one,..recently i moved them in order to remove flagstones for the new Greenhouse,..replaced them in the wrong position and ended up adding colorant to the wrong plant,..now i have two blues.

I have noticed bamboo stakes in some of your pictures, apparently for training or tying purposes. If that is the reason, I like it! I have been collecting bamboo for penstemon, tall sedums, and other plants that seen to want to split when watered or to bend when the wind hits them.

2ofus,..glad to see you also use Bamboo Canes,..you will save a lot of the tall plants using Canes,..i would be lost without them,..in the picture above they are supporting Musk Mallow though they are hidden behind the plant,..without them the plant would lean over almost to the ground as they are/it has reached over 5Ft 9 inches,..great for training my Hydrangea from growing towards the Bedroom Wall or supporting young Rose Bushes,..the tallest cane i can get is 8 Ft just right for Delphiniums and Hollyhocks,..1 Ft below the soil and 7 Ft supporting,..they last a very long time as most of mine are 12 years old,..the only danger is the 3 Ft Canes where 2 Ft is above the soil and very likely to poke ones eye out :smt064 so i perch small flower pots on top,..they are selling plastic Canes here,.. rather expensive compared to the real Cane however they do look good being dark green.

I'm not laughing at you poking your eye out because I've done the same darn thing  I bent over and poked myself in the forehead, almost knocked myself out. Gardening is dangerous!!!
