Ummm, about that tractor...there are TWO of them in the lower level. It is hard to get them up the steps so we leave them down over the winter.

About those berries, you must pick them for your breakfast...and gather the eggs...

And the smoking of the weeds, you may not want to try that here. I only keep real weeds. not weed, sorry. no relaxational effects from this kind.

You could put a bucket in the corner if that gets to be too much "running" for you.

I just discovered this thread. Oh boy, can I relate. I wish you all could see our living room at this moment. My husband & I are on a purging binge, trying to deal with years of paper work. We have been shredding for about a month now, taking huge garbage bags to the recycle center every week. Still haven't made a dent yet....

Cayuga Morning...use that paper for mulch in your garden/flowerbed and cover it with shredded mulch if it is in the flower bed. Or compost it in your pile. It will break down rather quickly in the compost. If it is thick enough in the garden it forms a nice "mat" that the weeds don't grow through. My FIL burns up a shredded a year shredding our business paper/files (what a job!) and we use it in the garden. Sometimes it blows away, but you never see it.

Wow Carolyn, I had not thought of that! I am trying to clean up an area in front out our house, planning to lay mulch down. Maybe I could put a layer of shredded paper first, then the mulch. Thanks for the idea.

Cayuga Morning, I try to utilize everything I can. We have one trash can the trash co. picks up or we have to haul to the recycling center, which isn't far, just another trip somewhere that takes time, so I use all the paper and cardboard around the garden perimeter to keep the weeds away from the edges of the gardens that we really can't mow around ( i even stop at the appliance store and raid their dumpster on a regular basis for large pieces of cardboard), shredded paper makes a insulator when transplanting new vegetables into the garden. sprinkle it on and mulch underneath to shade the plant and help retain moisture, pile it on if it is going to frost or get really chilly. I have a "worm farm" in the greenhouse which gets plenty of cardboard put in there, too. I rarely toss newspaper non shiny paper in the trash.

KK, do you have people "donating" you things to reuse?....I have a great big box of wooden berry boxes that need to be burned, messed up pulp ones that I wouldn't reuse, egg cartons (as I have eggs and never turn them down, but they are piling up. Jars for my honey...no no no, just the tall slender jars that spaghetti sauce comes in, not pickle jars, jam jars, etc. into the recycling bin they need to go. My shed has a lot of "stuff" in it that needs to go.

Sorry Carolyn, I missed this. The answer is not really. When I wanted to start planting in pots, my neighbour told me to help myself to her unused piles of all shape sizes. When my mum moved to stay with my sis, I inherited all her pots. Now I have too many pots.

Becky likes to keep all sorts container that comes with the jam, sauce and whatever that is inside. Talking about the tall slender jars, I think there is at least 6~8 pieces stash away somewhere in there. Yesterday we just gave away 2 dozens of mugs still in their original packing which are at least 25 years old if not more.

I thought I could get it done by today but the air pollution is getting worst today so guess it'll have to wait a couple of days more.

    Jewell, great job!!!
