    Toni... you said that your shade was provided by Pecan trees. When they lose their leaves this winter, will it affect your Hostas?

    No, because the sun is so far south through the winter that it doesn't touch the north side of the house.

    We shouldn't forget there are Hosta that like sun if you can find them.

    It's probably correct where you're living. Your sun is a lot brighter than ours so the poor plant will probably burn if it gets any sun. We've got a few that are supposed to become golden in mid-summer, but the last two summers have given us greenish-golden leaves. They look more sick than golden. :rolleyes: Some of the newer ones like "Striptease" and "Hanky-Panky" colour out well with little sun so I guess the hybrideer people (is that a word?) are doing their jobs better. :D
