Today I decided that the seedling from my first lot of soil block is ready for transplanting. Out of the 9 blocks only 1 did not sprout, anyway I only need 8 plants for pickling I transplanted all 8 of the seedlings into the growing bed and using soil blocks really saved me lots of time. Best of all there is no little containers to wash Now let's see how will they grow.
Ah yes, experimental gardening by a gardener with a green thumb. No wonder you had such a great germination rate, and the likelihood of those seedlings taking off and growing like mad is very good!
Thanks Marlingardener, I guess I am just curious and like to know what is the outcome and my thumb is not all that green
OH< Congratulations your little seedlings are impressive. I am impressed! I think you could make and sell these at a Garden Center. I must retrace your steps and learn how to make my own.
Thanks Growingpains the plants are doing well. Sell in Garden Center? Nah I don't so, it is just too simple.
KK Ng, on second thought, I will enjoy thinking of your seed blocks and use the tiny pots which were washed and stored away last Fall. Sounds lazy? I'm claiming Old age!
I had some late carrots left in the ground because they were too young to harvest. Today I dug a few up. They're small, but taste very good. There are a few more for diggging another day. I'm concerned about the garlic. I planted it before frost as I always do. Only a few came up. All the years I have grown garlic, it never failed to come up in the Fall. I cannot imagine why not this planting. Looks like I will have to put more out in Spring.
Sorry to hear that only some of your garlic came out, it happens to the best of us sometimes … maybe they are late and is waiting for spring
KK Ng, I have always planted the same way and it always produced abundantly. I left carrots in the garden. Couple of days ago, I dug some up, small, but very good. Carrots can winter over in the ground.
