Well at last the break from Virgin Media. I must be honest. The performance I had was good. The costing and loyalty....not so good. Locally a new provider has appeared called Community Fibre. I am all set now for the change over. Two year contract @ £20 a year. No price increases during contract, and promise that future price hikes will not exceed £2. I am having the land-line connected @£10 a month, unlimited call time but excl. premium rate calls. Beauty of it. My first year will be FREE except for the land-line. Suits me. The rep contacted Virgin purporting to be me. I have to say. I wasn't particularly happy with the way he spoke on the phone to the call center op. Who he said was working in Manilla for around two $ a month. My rep had worked for Virgin Media since the begining and knew the ropes. Set questions are asked by the call center op, your comments are ignored. Over two days, my rep insisted to be connected to cancellations. Both days and four times the call was put on hold with the hope the caller would get fed up waiting. Eventually it all went through. As mentioned. I feel for the call center op. The rep said that if they lose a customer, they have to pay. I believed slavery was a thing of the past.
Modern technology. Mobile phones that can take photos, hold all your personal details etc. Computers, the Internet etc. Social Media. Why is it so difficult for us 'oldies' to understand it all. A recent update to my Firefox. OK, problems with the latter have been. Firefox is running but is not responding etc. Then recently an upgrade. This knocked out my audio on youtube. To get sound on youtube, I have to switch off mains power to the pc then switch back on. Attempting to read-up via the net...............%$()+. Nothing is in simple terms. It reminds me a guy asking directions from a regular pub client. Yeah, go down there, take a right, at the George & Dragon do a left etc etc. So I have within this un godly hour. Uninstalled Firefox. Re-installed. NO PRIZES. Guess what?????. NO DIFFERENCE. Stay Safe. Mike.
It's 01.44 07/06/23. Well that's what my clock indicates. Time little boys like me, were tucked up in bed and fast asleep. NO. My tiny brain is boiling over. I must appear to be a total idiot to you all. I must be honest. When it comes to computers and the internet. I have convinced myself that is true. OK. I am an oldie...according to statstistics aged 84. I use the computer a lot in my research. The opthalmics say I have glaucoma, so what? Why in todays world, even the net make it difficult to read and follow advice/instructions. Like asking directions on the street. Do you really need to know the houses, the residents etc. A simple go down there. Take the third left, continue to the T junction, turn right and that's it. I am lost at the first line. So my problem. I am not keen on social media. However I have or had a facebook account. Tonight I tried to join a group on The Rose Society's site. I completed the questionaire and all hell was let loose. I already had a F/B account. Now my name was wrong. Next my password was wrong. Apart from anything else. I was shocked to read information that I had submitted online. So has Google and the net now become the angel of 1984. So friends. Please how the hell can I get out of this mess???
Mike it’s so frustrating when that happens. I used to keep all my passwords/names on sticky notes for each site . Well that system began to look like the walls were papered in scrawny sticky notes. The past few years my computer has the option to save them all and keeps them all in the password save setting automatically. Anytime I need a password the correct latest passwords is sent up to the keyboard from the save password settings. All I have to do now is click on the password or name sent by passwords saved settings to enter a site. Do you have that setting on your computer that automatically will save and send a correct password and name for each site. No more guessing or stripping the sticky notes from the walls , thank goodness.
