I enjoyed your pics of your area. My family origin is Whitton, Scotland, UK..on the Scottish border east of Jedburgh. Our family immigrated to the U.S. from Ireland, Scotland, and England.....from the counties of Lanarkshire, Ayrshire, Midlothian in Scotland..and from Ireland in the counties of Ulster, Armagh and Londonderry. Also from England from the counties of London, Cumberland, Essex, and Middlesex. Looking forward to more images..Thank you for sharing.
Hi Michael, glad you enjoy seeing the Irish pictures and of course Eileen will be posting pictures of Scotland,..you might feel the pull towards this side of the pond as you will be getting pictures from England from our members there as well. Enjoying your marvelous pictures to date. Philip

Hi Cheryl, the whole hillside looks like the bushes have snow,..all Blackthorn Blossoms,..they are very pretty.
Hi Cheryl, thorny is putting it mildly,..some of the thorns are over four inches long,..some people call them spines,.. and rightly so,..also there is something in the thorn sap or juice that really hurts apart from the spine itself,..the pain lasts for a very long spell,..in fact it feels like an anti tetanus shot injection was given,..ouch. Some pictures taken on the lake lately,..and of course island hopping. A very warm day. Lovely photos. That forest of yours looks more like a jungle, complete with vines. I thought you lived in Ireland.
Hi Droopy, ,..it really felt like that,..i went to that island to pick up an old cast iron pot,..the picture of it is somewhere in this thread alas i couldn't make it through the tall grass,..i was about half way there and struggling as i had to step high with each step,..it was better to quit as i would never have the legs to complete the journey and return with the huge pot,..maybe another day. Philip, those thorns sound awful. Are they edible, though? or just bird food? The forget me nots are sweet. What is the tall white flowering "stuff" in the jungle there? Looks like wild celery or parsley maybe? not hemlock, I hope. Overall, it looks as if you were having another beautiful week out on the water.
Hi Carolyn, oh the berries on the Blackthorn are called "Sloes",..people make "Sloe Jam" and "Sloe Wine" from them. As for that Wild Parsley or Wild Celery look alike,..i am not sure though later this month they take sheep to the island to graze so i think we could rule out "Hemlock",..i would guess Wild Parsley as we have a lot of that here. It was a scorcher of a day,..i set off on my own early morning and didn't come home until late evening,..then had to check Molly for Ticks, .
