VERY NICE! Must take a lot of skills and patience. I wonder who supplies him with all those "shoes"...
Carolyn,..the Elephants took 16 weeks to complete,..and the Trotting Horse at the Hay Barn cost fourteen thousand five hundred British Pounds,..that's $22.000+. He has an amazing sense of posture and proportion, he really captures the "feel" of an animal. Imagine, out of horseshoes. Very enjoyable.
Hi MaryAnn, i have to admit i am intrigued by his work,..i first spotted him on the BBC TV some years ago and then it was around 2006,..his work sells itself,..the idea of recycling horse shoes and in such a beautiful manner,..makes you wonder how he hit on the idea.
I love the owl and the duck best, but all of the sculptures are wonderful. Such talent! Cheryl, do not go out and de-shoe horses. You have enough to do. Making sculpture will be a good vocation for your retirement years.
Great photos of sculptures Philip. Hatfield House is just up the road from where I live and we visit every year. They have many exhibitions and country shows which are great. Tewin is also quite near to us. What a talent ....I particularly like the dog as it looks like a Flatcoated Retriever, as you probably guess, a passion of mine I have quite a few photos of Hatfield House and gardens which also includes other types of animal sculptures. I will look them out and post a few.
Jane... no need to worry about me trying that... that's way to much talent for me! And retirement? What's that? :-D
Hi Pat, oh lucky you living so close to Hatfield House,..if you find those pictures do post them,..its a lovely house and gardens,..earlier in this thread i posted a link to the Garden at Hatfield House,..a tour given by Lady Salisbury on her Tulips. Oh i think that dog is a Retriever,..its the right colour. ------------------------------------------------------ Cheryl, i have one horseshoe in my garden,..i could send it,..imagine,..the start of your big collection, . ---------------------------------------------------- Jane,..your thinking medium size,..Owl and Duck,..sounds like the name of a Tavern,..i liked the Fox myself. .................................................... Luke, he sure is talented,..good choice with the Cheetah,..every time i look i change my mind,..the Camel looks good.
I have uploaded quite a few photos of Hatfield House so I think it best they are viewed straight from My Garden as I have created a special folder for them. Sorry don't know how to give a direct link? // mod edit: Direct link here http://www.gardenstew.com/plantstew/alb ... er_id=5046
