Obviously we do. But this was a once in a hundred years kind of a storm... This storm kept moved inland, then moved back out to sea for a few days. Regained it's strength, and moved back inland - This cycle continued 4 to 5 times. Resulting into this kind of never before seen flooding. Also, Karachi city is very close to sea level, (just an average 10 feet above). Now a storm surge of this magnitude often raises the ocean level by 1.5 to 2 feet. And so at high tide, when the ocean is already +6 feet above normal, and add to this the +2 feet more because of the storm - Means that even though we have functioning drains. Rainwater still won't be going anywhere, specially at high tide, combined with a downpour, never before seem in a 100 years or more.
Unbelievable!!! This storm system is just refusing to die down. Everytime we think that it's finally over, it again goes back out to see and retains it's strength! So getting ready for the 6th time! Unbelievable I swear... I honestly don't have any explanation for this.
