Niece BF has a great dane. Drinks out of kitchen sink. They are getting married the 11th. Mini gentle as a lamb.

That is one beautiful and huge dog and it looks so gentle with your little Grand-daughter. Your are right though, big dog = big mess!

We had a harlequin Great Dane that was 180 lbs., but only 34 inches high. So he wasn't big for a male, but he was counter-surfer, as Great Dane owners call them! It seemed like he grew up overnight! All of a sudden, one day he could counter surf, and he hadn't been able to before. We swore he grew an inch every night! We had to put him to sleep at the age of 8, which is old for a Dane, unfortunately. I'll never forget him. He was a big doofus!

Well, Charlie's now topped out (hopefully) at 160 pounds! He's mellowed out somewhat, though he's still a big, enthusiastic doofus! He is one of the clumsiest dogs I've ever known, tripping over his own feet, running into things, routinely falling up the stairs (though never down, for some unknown reason) and generally being absolutely graceless.

Some recent pictures. There's nothing particularly special about this first one, other than the fact that you get some idea of Charlie's size, in comparison to the dining room table.

Then there's this one of him taking up approximately half the kitchen when he lays down!

And finally, Paige (my daughter) doing some "Charlie shaming" after he got into the trash ;)
