    SusieQ, your crape myrtle is probably a grafted plant.
    White is the common root stock they use to graft other colors on and sometimes the white will show up along with the grafted color.
    I had a three color Blaze rose like that for about 4 years until the white died back and the red took over, then the pink disappeared too.
