I think what we collect says a lot about us and I can tell I like you :) Right now all I'm collecting are cats:rolleyes: another one found his way to the food dish. Seriously though, I am a plate collector myself and my mom collects platters. I love to hold one in my hands and imagine all the people before me that enjoyed it too.

Hi. Thanks for that and I am sure the liking would be mutual between us. I have been collecting and also studying pottery and porcelain for years and just love it. Much more of it is unmarked than marked and its so interesting to try by picture comparison, pattern nos, names etc to try and find out just what pottery made it and as much of its history thereby. Like yourself I also always wonder who owned it and what its life had been, where etc. Have collected many books on the whole subject and these do aid me a lot but have to say its mostly like looking for a needle in a haystack and remains unknown - still have the pleasure of owning it though whatever. Sometimes I have found out about a particular item years after obtaining it . Looking through all the sales on Ebay etc is also a good thing- for the interest - the pleasure of seing it all and sometimess seeing a named variety of one whose name is unknown to you.
Would love if possible/convenient to see some pics of your plates - may be able to help out (by reference) with a name or two. Syd.

Syd, I am an avid ebayer:rolleyes: I get very frustrated when someone calls something by the wrong name! I've wanted to send a note and correct them but my sister said to mind my own business:suspicious:

Hi. I also find Ebay most interesting and do so love as I said to look through all the items for sale - so much to see and also so much to learn - and things to buy when funds permit. Our buying has nothing to do with value its strictly what we like to display indoors and look at at all and any time - I buy items with chips and minor damage for that reason - can do some nice neat repairs where wanted - some nice old things to be found. Nice to talk to you and would love to see some pics of your plates and if possible mums platters she collects. For years I was mainly interested in blue and white wares but later years have also got into florals and other patterns - love it all. Syd.
