CritterPainter, that's an excellent link for purple plants. Glenndan, wandering jew and moses in a boat are 2 different plants. Fish... You need to be looking for low and medium light plants. There are many purple plants on that link above, but not so many low - medium light houseplants. Crotons are not very satisfactory houseplants - higher light requirements, target for spider mites. Tradescantia will probably work for awhile (winter), but unless you buy a big one to begin with, be aware it will take awhile to grow. If you want a nice big plant, how about a Cordyline fructicosa (Hawaiian ti)? Purple leafed philodendron might be nice. Also purple-flowered bromeliads or orchids.
