Question about rose care & pruning, advice wanted

    @MIKE ALLEN sorry all that i know is that it's a ht and it's yellow, l lost the label a long time ago.

    In my limited experience on the subject, I have found that if you plant suckers from roses, you end up with wild briars that really only belong in a ''wildlife hedge'' and are rather more of a nuisance in the garden. :shrug:

    Yes of course but I grafted a rose that I wanted on to the rootstock.

    My roses are all. David. Austin Roses. They will be pruned right back before Easter.
    Septered Isle a pink Rose
    A yellow rose
    A white Rose
    Bought two Roses red and a White from Sainsbury’s for £3.99 each.

    Logan mentioned about suckers. Just a quickie. Suckers should always be torn away from the rootstock. This destroys the embyo connection. If you simply cut off the sucker. Basically you are pruning it, and it will grow again. Hope this helps.

    A tip about pruning. Cutting right back. This may sound and give the impression, that the author is an expert. With the greatest respect. Such a statement leaves so much out. Photos, illustrations of such drastic methods, will usually depict the now remains of a somewhat strong wooded plant. OK. However treat a skinny frail subject in the same way, and you will probably lose it.
