gosh, maybe we need to come visit. dr likes to smoke with mesquite. He even used some of his little chunks last week when he needed something dry to get the fire going. We are not that far from you either.

The rain here came to and end earlier this evening..a total of 3.25 inches in my rain gauge so my gardens are very happy.

What's really good from all this rain is that a lot fell out in west Texas...Lubbock, Amarillo area. They have been drier than anyone around this part of the state.

At dusk last night we measured 4.3" of rain, and it rained again during the night. I'll go out and empty the rain gauge at daylight (it only measures up to 5") so if we get more, and showers are predicted for this morning, we will know how much.
Our mailman wasn't able to get to some of the rural route boxes because of high water, and with a shallow draft boat we could float from our pond down to the farm that's about a half-mile from us! The run-off from our pond is making a small river across fields.
Our hens laid more eggs yesterday than normal. They get bored being inside and can't think of anything else to do, I guess.

I checked my rain gauge this morning... 2.25 inches. The ditches are full but I didn't see any road flooding on my way home yesterday. A neighbor a few houses away has a small pond which is now a part of the ditch... if it rained another inch I bet it would have gone over the road.

The sun is shining this morning. There is just a bit over the six inches because there was a drizzling rain last night. Maybe they can drill on our neighbors new water will today.
