I would say that I don't need rain right now, but then I'd probably jinx it. We're still considered in a drought... but nothing like the last couple of years. I don't know the actual amount of rain deficit, but all you have to do is look at the lakes and see that the levels are pretty full. The grass was looking pretty brown a couple of weeks ago, but with the recent rains, it's all good now. I'm adding another rain barrel this weekend... now watch.. it won't rain for weeks! So... yep... I'll raise my hand too.
As bad as we need rain. Pray it goes to fire victims first. I can water plants. Lawn might be brown-not as bad as last year. But getting there.but not putting out flames going to my house
Rained for about 45 minutes. But soaked in very fast.Lately rain going North of #20. Hummer was dancing in rain. Crop reports looks bad.
I got a couple of TEASPOONS of rain today. All it did was stir up the dust and dirt! GRR Now, that is just insulting!!! It's hot and dry here!
Well NE Iowa got 2 inches of rain Thursday. But small shower here. Crops look bad. And Iowa's Corn feeds a lot of people + animals. Stiff and sore from dragging hose around.
Well know can say dries Aug on record.Only crop land that is doing better is where it flooded. And had to replant. Some the corn roots going down 4 feet.
I've spent at least 12 hours in the last two days giving everything a good drink. The grass is brown and crunchy. So yep...some rain would be very nice.
Make sure I water real good close to house. Last year people had cracks in basement walls. Drought drew moisture out cement $$$$$ to repair them. Big cracks.
Got some good rain the last 2 evenings. Might rain again later tonight! Wish I could share some rain clouds
Normally I would raise my hand. We had a couple months with no rain. But for the past 3-4 days it has been raining on and off. A little late for crops...but it keeps my flower garden going.
The lawn crunches as I walk on it. I have tried leaving wash line over night. Car window down. Wash windows. Had 20% chance yesterday. Went way south. But main prayer is RAIN.
Well, We were blessed today with a 1/2" shower. Enough to moisten the soil I was working up to plant a flat of lettuce for Fall. Thank you, Lord! And it has cooled off 15 degrees in the last 12 hours. For that I am thankful for, too. Planting Fall crops needs a little cooler weather than the 80+ we have been getting.
Last year was a totally different weather pattern than this year...every year seems to be so unpredictable that we are caught flat footed no matter how we plan. We had maybe 1/2" of rain last summer for the whole season...hay was $10.00 a bale for feeding animals, there were several farmers who sold their cows since they couldn't afford to feed them. This Summer it has been better, but I don't think we had much rain for most of August, but what saved us was the extreme cool temps for the whole month. most days didn't make it above 75 and the nights were in the 50's. bizarrely cold. In July we had 16 days straight with rain. can we say BLIGHT! it ruined the tomato crop around here for most people.
Some of the farmer around here donated semi load of BIG bales. And sent them south last year. They was able to make hay early. Got more rain then we needed. Flooding -some basements damaged, Now creeks drying up.
