Those birds are so sweet. :) We haven't got those, but some similar ones. They are shy though, and won't come very close.

Aren't birds fun, especially in the bleak winter? :-D The joint is jumping here. We feed year round and have as many as 36 Male cardinals at one time. It is stunning! To hand tame the birds start getting closer and closer to your feeders while the birds are there. On a really cold day let the feeders get empty. We started out letting them land on the seed refill bucket and then after a day or so put the seeds in our gloves. We hulled the sunflower seeds to make them more attractive to them. They got to where they would land in your hand and actually "throw" some seeds out while they were making their choices. I have some pix if I can find them. Hubby had a bird display at the library so he had them if he can remember where he put them. You KNOW how husbands are.

Very nice picture...such a cute bird but I would think I died and went to heaven if I ever saw as many male cardinals as you said....I can just dream of them...

I raise sunflowers for the birds.. they eat it till it is all gone.. Guess I should try shelling it for winter feed........

I have a red cardinal her on the grape arbor and cannot get close enough for a good photo.
I do have some bad photos..LOL

Yes it is so nice watching........

They're so cool, love their racing stripe.

I had to go out and refill all my suet and seed feeders a couple days ago, we've had a ton of birds coming through late every morning - bushtits, finches, thrushes, woodpeckers and robins mostly, plus a couple I don't know the identity of.

An entire flock of robins come through, they love our yard for worm-hunting.
