very envious i've started my very first roses this year. Just have to keep my fingers crossed now until next april to see if they survive the snow.
So pretty Philip. Seeing the pictures of your roses has made me try to reproduce one of mine. I have an empty bed that I will move it to (assuming success). It'll be joined there by some new peonies. Here is hopng you have more October roses yet!
Hi Danjensen, i will keep my fingers crossed for you throughout the winter,..mine survived the -19C winter we had with no ill effects,..that was the first time they experienced those low temperatures,..but it all depends on the species of rosebush you have and the area you live in,..minus 30F wont kill hardy rosebushes,..but do help them by covering the bud union with straw,..that's where all the shoots come out from. ------------------------------------------------------ Hi Cayuga Morning, i do hope you have success,..and come next spring you will be re potting or planting it out,..if not then its a spring cutting you should take. Hi Cayuga Morning, by coincidence its the orange roses that are blooming more so than the others just now,..but i am not complaining,..i like orange. ...................................................... Hi DaphDaph, delighted you have a crush on my garden,..it is mostly green at present,..but i made up a video today of just some of the blooms during 2011. Video--Blooms 2011. I am totally in awe - Those are soo beautiful. I will definitely have to show my daughter your roses - she will love it. She is the rose person in our family. :-D Your roses is enough to make anyone very happy just looking at the images.
Philip: I to am jealous of those beautiful roses. My garden has very little green in it anymore. Mostly frost bitten wilted plants. Those are really great pic's. The colors are awesome. :-D
Hi Palm Tree, nice to see you again,..oh by all means point your daughter in the direction of my roses,..people who grow roses become addicted to them. --------------------------------------------------- Hi Freckles, i am pleased you liked that last video,..i wasn't sure of it myself as i left out so many shots that i would like to have included,..there were so many and it wasn't possible to have the time to include them all in one session ----------------------------------------------------- Hi Tooty2shoes, well indeed my own garden at the moment is VERY green due to all the rain,..and lack of blooms,..its so weird seeing mostly green compared to lots of colours,..i see you have frost!,..oh it will arrive here very soon.
Great video!!! That pink columbine speaks to me I am going to have to find one of those!!! Was your garden established when you moved in or have you had to start from scratch?
Hi Deanna, that pink Columbine appeared out of the blue,..i didn't have a pink one the first year. I moved to this house in 2004 and started the garden from scratch,..there was nothing here but grass back then,..and i didn't have a digital camera either,..so the pictures you see below are non digital but you can see the changing face of the garden,..and the room,.. ,..i was just trying to figure out where did certain things go since then,..lol. In 2004 the garden looks very bare. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) Still changing. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) Video of 2008. In 2008. Hi Philip--I just watched your fall video. Spectacular! The music is beautiful and goes perfectly with the photos. I can't believe (yes I can) that you grew all those plants from cuttings or seeds. Amazing! You are truly a master gardener.
