Philip, the transformation of the room is as nice as the transformation of your garden. I love the new look as opposed to the stark white of the original room. Much nicer now. Homey. (is that really a word?)

    Hi Cayuga Morning,
having a garden full of plants and rose bushes all from seeds or cuttings started off as an experiment some 7 years ago,..a friend had someone prune all his rose bushes and as i looked at all the cast away branches i took about a dozen and potted them,..most rooted,..and i did the same the following year,..it became a habit,..almost an addiction!,.. to take cuttings anywhere i went and not just rose bushes,..anything with seeds!,..i was put out when someone gave me a present of a rose bush,..lol,..imagine accepting something i didn't start myself,..it went against the grain,..but i don't mind now,..it was a rose bush named "Ice Cream",..a white rose.

    Hi Carolyn,
homey will do,..sometimes i need a rude awakening to arrange the furniture or do some housework,..i do keep the place tidy,..but i forget to dust,.. ,..(i find it handy for writing phone numbers),..lol,..changes always come after women visit,..its then i get many suggestions and i am always surprised i didn't think of them myself.

Here is a nice video of white roses from a friend on YouTube.

Beautiful roses. I think it is a great idea to take cuttings/seeds. You have me started on a new enterprise.

These pictures are lovely. :-D I have a stray rosebud here or there, but they don't really open up as large as yours. I do notice though, that in the Autumn the colors seem a bit more brilliant

    Hi Cayuga Morning,
nice to see you have started on the cuttings trail,..it will become addictive,..every branch i prune i want to save by making it a cutting,..i do make more cuttings than the garden can handle so i tend to give them to anyone who will look after them,..almost like looking for a home for a pet.

In time you will start on the growing rose bushes from seed or grafting,..its all very interesting and rewarding.

    Hi Kathyd,
oh you should take cuttings and increase your stock,..perhaps your roses are small by nature?,..have you tried giving them a boost with a fertilizer?.

I agree with you about the colours in autumn seeming more brilliant,..could be less sunlight or less colour around to compete so the remaining blooms are highlighted.

Philip--So pretty! They do look like late fall roses, don't they?

Thanksgiving day, I went out into my garden looking for some plant material to make a centerpiece. I found one small but bright miniature rose in bloom. I added to it some sprigs of holly and sprigs of sage. It was actually a very pretty arrangement for the table.

It is good to see your roses are still (occasionally) blooming.

    Hi Cayuga Morning,
despite they smaller blooms they still give off a strong scent which i appreciate,..good idea to include the Sage with the Holly and the rose,..i often give a bunch away and add sprigs of Mint or a Fern.

Unless the weather gets milder i think this is the last day of my roses in bloom during 2011,..as you can see lots of frost this morning.

    Hi Deanna,
there were pink roses in bloom during the winter,..and up to this week,..i think there was just one day when i had no blooms since last spring,..that was a first.

But here are two new blooms for 2012,..they are in bloom for the past few days.
