Yes I know... This rock formation probably existed for a few hundred thousand years at least! However just when civilization found it (in the last 200 yeas), it was lost... :'(

Before the arch fell, many so called "experts" even tried to save it from collapsing - By injecting epoxy inside the porous rock (to give it strength). But it did not work. :'(

Still, from time to time, someone somewhere often says that we will now rebuild the arch - With an artificial fiberglass rock face (thus making it look exactly like it was before)...

But the purists say not to bother please, as it was after all lost naturally, not by any man-made accident. So just let it go... :'(

Anyway, bottom line is that the mega metropolis of Karachi, lost one of it's most distinguishing features that day. In my childhood, I remember seeing many different postcards with pictures of the Paradise Point on them - But today the world has become so addicted to email and other stuff, that even postcards too have now gone out of fashion.

    Sigh...

    Thanks Theodoros! :)

In this old song from a Pakistani film (from the early 70s I think), one can clearly see the Paradise Point rock from 1:05 to 1:10, then again from 1:16 to 1:21, and once more from 1:24 to 1:30... They are not showing too much of the rock, as the Reactor was being built when shooting for this film took place. So to avoid any direct confrontation with the PAEC (Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission) - They did not film a direct shot of the Paradise Point rock (as the construction of the Nuclear Reactor would have been filmed also, from the hole in that rock)...

However the rocky beach can be clearly seen in this video too, (but please try and ignore the horrible fashion sense of the 70s, as well as some extremely bad acting - Hehehehehehe). :)

Here's another old song from another Pakistani romantic comedy film HumM sab chor hain (meaning: We are all thieves), shot around the same time as the above link - But here they are too scared to even turn the camera towards the East. Still, the killer rocky beach can be clearly seen.

Anyway, once there seriously won't be any home in Karachi where you wouldn't see a family group photo, shot at the Paradise Point - Which would always be displayed in the living room.

But now, not so much, (after the arch of the rock fell in the late 1990s)... Anyway, that's how popular this rock was to us at one time. By the way, both videos were probably shot in the winter time, as the sea is very calm at that time of the year.
