2ofUs... that wok/orb is spectacular! Be sure to post a photo when it's all planted up.

I have a smaller hoop with a cauldron hanging from it, I have had a Spider plant in it but this year I want something brighter in color but since it is in total shade that will probably be some Impatiens.

Those planters on either side of the bench would be pretty with vines growing up a trellis and vining across the top to shade the bench.

That's going to look great when filled. I keep looking for old, cheap fire pits at thrift stores but I guess others get to them first. :(

Wow I sure would love all of them in my yard. I have a cauldron in my yard and planted multi colored pickle peppers in it. They are doing nicely. I'm hoping they will make pretty pickled peppers to can.

That is really beautiful, great just what I need....another idea to go plant shopping for. ;)
I love old enamel pots and basins like that, just recently I realized that I have collected quite a few different pots, pails, basins, etc. I do have one planted in, guess I should post a photo of the square one I did up the other day.

Toni, that is such a good idea. I'll have to talk it over with Mike and see if it is feasible, or possible to build an arbor than can easily be taken apart. We have a steep roof, and with the snowfall we can get here, we have to remove the bench and turn the planters sideways up against the house. It would look great there though with morning glories running overhead.

Ms. Kitty, I like your re-cycled pots. Very pretty.

:) What fun to peruse this thread! So much creativity -
I hope that some of you won't mind if I "borrow" your clever ideas?

Here are a few things around my place that didn't start out in life as planters, but serve that purpose rather nicely, IMHO:

Zuzu, I love your salad on wheels! I've always wanted to do a movable lettuce patch to try to extend the season, but didn't have a spare wheelbarrow! Love that chair too ... the way the Ivy grows around the chair ... neat!

I love them all and you've given me some good ideas. I used to have a wooden chair planter and have been keeping my eyes open for another but now I'm going to start looking for a metal one! I think it's cuter and it won't decay! Great idea.

Thanks Netty, Donna and 2ofus, I'm very glad you like, and I feel honored for anyone to grab an idea and run with it. :D

Netty, :like: yes, that was exactly my thinking with our old, damaged wheelbarrow, and it has worked out well, IMO.
I can easily position it in full sun during spring and autumn, when the sunshine is less intense around here, but then choose a spot in dappled sun/shade when necessary.

2ofus, :setc_034: I love to haunt the local resale stores, and I was lucky enough to find a matched pair of those yellow chair frames (from which the seats were already missing), it was just dumb luck that a couple of wire baskets (which I already owned) dropped in perfectly. Here is another pic showing both - that season I was training Pothos around the circular back, but that large foliage completely obscured the chair frame very quickly, so I much prefer the Ivy, for it's more delicate foliage.
