Starlings certainly finish off our best berries first, so I think there's something to that! Oh, so you're going fancy with the tasting now. Good thinking!
Righty-o Droopy--Ya gotta keep up with the times. How can I ever build-up a credible reputation if I don't go international?
Hey Sjoerd, I just found this post, and enjoyed it very much. Seems you have had your challenges with the weather, but I'm sure your green thumbs will prevail. Love the swans, the little ones are so cute. We have a lot of Canadian Gesse around and they are all parading their new babies around showing them the ropes. I am jealous of the beautiful rain you watched from your charming garden shed (jealous of that too) Very dry here, and hot. Lots of watering going on these days.
Hahaha KK-- I know what you mean there. Oh well, just a thought. ;-) Hey there, KAY--How nice to hear from you. I reckon that you have your hands full there too. As for those green thumbs of mine: well Kay, to be honest, I have been working so hard lately that once my thumbs got covered with dirt, they just haven't been green since. This playing catch-up is an unrelenting situation where I am perpetually behind schedule. The weather comes and goes...that is to say there are periods of sun and dryness when I can work, and other periods where the weather is windy, cold and wet and I cannot work much at all. This means of course that I have to over-do it when the weather allows. It is a roller coaster ride of exhaustion, then rest, then exhaustion...etc, etc. I know Canadian Geese. I have seen the lesser and the greater when I lived in Alaska. Beautiful fowl. They came there in their uncountable multitudes--an astounding sight. There is an area hear, near the dike where they overnight in their thousands. Sometimes I drive out there or bike out there...however, the dike has been closed for two years now for strengthening. It was so nice sitting in the garden house and listening to the rain fall on the metal roof. I could have gone to sleep. I am sorry to hear about your dry and hot spell there. I hope that that changes soon. City water is perhaps better than nothing, but there is nothing like a good soaking with rain. Are the corn farmers having it tough there? I am having a bit of a problem with the corn here...but it is the coolness and moisture that are giving mr fits. Hope to see you here more often.
You have been busy.....great pictures as usual ...take care and make sure you take time and relax .... :-D
Hi Sjoerd, I really enjoyed your posting. Love the photos of your garden from the gate and windows. I also love the swans with baby along for the ride. Glad you made some time in your busy schedule to post. I had 1300 posting since I last checked in. When I have the time to check in I realize how much I miss keeping up with the stew.
Hi Sjoerd I love your garden house and the views from the window! I could sit, drink tea and stare out the window all day -getting nothing done! cris
Thanks SHERRY-- I will most certainly take time to enjoy the garden. Relaxing is one of the most important aspects of gardening, y'know. ;-) Howdy GAIL--It is great to see you. 1300 posts: Tch, tch, tch. Oh dear me. I miss your posts on here. I'm glad that you liked the posting. That swan family did look cute gliding along in the sloot. Thanks very much, CRIS--Yes, I like spending time taking it easy, and when it's raining, that little garden house is just the thing. DONNA S-- It was so good to hear that you enjoyed the posting. I have been admiring your flower pics.
Sjoerd wow that was a great tour. Loved all the photo's of your beautiful place and the swan's. Made me a bit tired just reading all of your to do's or already done. Last year I keep up our strawberry patch. Pulling weeds, pulling weeds, pulling weeds, watering, and then putting up an electric fence to keep the raccoon's out. The berries where yummy. But this year the weeds got away on me and you can't find our berries for the weeds. Oh well will have to resort to going and picking Strawberries at a local berry patch. Maybe we could hire you to come and help out. Need a working vacation here in the States? :-D
Hahaha....oh 2T, you are a caution. It would be fun to do that. I sometimes help other gardners on out gardening complex, but this year, I really have not had the time since I perpetually in arrears in terms of my own schedule. I'll bet we would have fun working together on your garden. It looks like you have a lot to do there and it has been keeping you very busy this spring. Urmmmmm.....BTW: would there be time for a lemonade or tea pause from time to time should I be able to get off and make the trip? ;-)
Hey Sjoerd, it's nice to stroll through your garden again after being away recouping after my knee op. As always you are so organised, I am really envious. I love the photos of the swan with her babies hitching a ride. Funilly enough, I was watching Spring Watch on the tele this evening and they showed that very same thing with the mother and baby swans. The photos from your shed door and window are lovely, such an array of colour.
Hiya GG!--Great to see you back on here. I hope that the surgery went well and that you are more mobile now (and of course without pain). Thanks so much for the nice remarks. I saw the very same Springwatch and thought immediately of the foto that I had posted too. I sure do like that series and watch it faithfully in the spring as well as in the autumn. Just one of the many quality shows that come out of GB. I hope that as the knee mends that you will be on here more often. Take care.
