About water drops on fires--a fire broke out near Stillhouse Hollow Lake (a man-made Corps of Engineers lake used as a reservoir) and the Texas Forestry helicopters couldn't scoop water from the lake to fight the fire because the lake level was too low. How bad is that! The fire departments around here are stretched so thin on manpower and resources that something is bound to snap soon. Two major outbreaks at once, and decisions will have to be made as to which to fight and which to let burn. Our county sheriff saw some idiot toss out a cigarette and pulled him over. By the time the sheriff finished, the idiot was going to jail in handcuffs. I think "throwing the book" at him is the plan!
So glad that trooper arrested that cigarette tossing idiot! And regards to lake levels, we were discussing that very thing the other day here in the office. If there were a serious fire around the Huffman/Atascocita/Humble/Kingwood area... I don't know where they'd get the water to fight it. Lake Houston is down so low... pretty soon, someone is going to have to go out there and mow all the weeds down. And the San Jacinto looks more like a rut than a river.
They said lot of fires in Texas caused by smokers. And also in Minn. Lot of lighting cause them also. Pray Texas get some rain. Didn't know it was so dry in Minn thought they was getting rain.
I see cigarettes all the time being tossed out the window....people are not thinking at all ...what would happen if they flicked it out and it went in someones window or back inside their own vehicle. I find them all the time in our yard from the neighbor woman who walks her dog, why can't she carry it down 3 houses and dispose of it right....No one respects anyones property anymore...
Its very hard to understand how people can be so dumb, careless, irresponsible, brain dead,..well i could keep trying to put a tag on some people and it would be endless. When i am in public i tend to be quiet and polite,..but i shouted at the top of my voice at a person filling up at the petrol station,..she was leaning over the petrol/gas hose,..filling up,..and had a lit cigarette in her mouth as she was looking at the petrol hose inserted into her tank,..i just freaked at the fact she was so unaware what she was doing in such a dangerous area,..all it needed was one spark,..an boom!!.
