That's terrible Buda, I guarantee you they viewed the plants as just an obstacle and never gave a moment's thought to the hard work you had put into them. The lights can be recovered but the plants cannot, I think that is the saddest part of your story. Stay strong and, most importantly, rebulld that front yard. Don't let them take that away from you.
Buda, Check with local metal recycling places to see if anybody has recently sold copper wire to them in an amount that might equal what was stolen from you. I assume your sheriff's office will do the same, but to be sure, you might check yourself. This would be a good way to vent some of your anger and feel that you're doing something about it. If the places still have the wire sold on hand, ask to see it to see if you can identify it. I believe the law requires the recycling place to get the identity of the seller of such stuff. This could lead to the culprits identities and then to prosecution. The law in Texas recently got tougher on copper thieves, because the phenomenon of this type of theft has gotten so bad. See Texas Penal Code Section 31.03 (e)(4)(F) makes it a felony to steal wiring such as yours: the value of the property stolen is less than $20,000 and the property stolen is insulated or noninsulated wire or cable that consists of at least 50 percent: (i) aluminum; (ii) bronze, or (iii) copper Check with your local sheriff's office & push them to check the metal recycling places too - or any place that buys used metal for any purpose.
Thanks everyone for listenting to me gripe and complain. It was not a fun evening yesterday. So this morning was even more frustrating!!!!! I go to the front yard and laying in a heap are all my lights and wiring! So my plants where destroyed for NO reason at all! If the person felt that guilty, they could have replaced some bushes and plants! URGH!
Oh, my goodness, talk about adding salt to a wound. A couple of possible scenarios come to mind, hope the last one gives you a mental picture of Karma at work and makes you smile. Kids who got caught by their parents but didn't want to confess to you and have to pay for repairs or Bubba who sobered up after being treated for fire ant bites on certain delicate parts of his anatomy and realizing that he might not ever get all the ants out of his pickup, got drunk again last night and returned them.
Maybe they caught an episode of My Name is Earl, and the thought of Karma scared the begebeeze outta them. Either way I sure hope Karma still happens to them. I'm glad you got the wiring and lights back, but my goodness, my heart goes out to you for all those plants...all that hard work. Lets hope Karma kicks some major bootie!!

I'm glad your wiring was returned but I hope those Ants were all over them as they were on my hand the time I was leaving for Montana the next day and looked like I had a horrible case of chicken poxs all over my right hand and arm.I had to fly to Montana with my hand and arm puffed up .If all over them they were very sick by morning and did need a Dr.
Well you might have got your lights and wiring back but they should have had the decency to also leave a cheque to cover the damage they did to your plants too!! :-x They've just added insult to injury by returning the lights.
My neighbors lights where not returned. Weird. I had to break down and go to Home Depot today and do something with the naked beds. After talking to several neighbors last night, I decided it was time to start a blog for the community where people can post vandelism and crimes. out association does nothing to make any of us aware of things like this in spite of all of us reporting it. I was so shocked to find out that the first security guard at the pool was fired after 54....yes 54 complaints from parents who's little girls had been touched inappropriatley. We are now on our fifth security guard in three months and I had no clue!!!

This is awful, those poor plants. Yes you should replant bigger and better, than before. Maybe if they see you out there working, they'll feel guilty enough to do some real work, and help.
