Had a call from our Estate Agents yesterday asking about progress with our purchase, so our buyer is still keen.
Palu...I just can't get over how your house buying and selling saga drags on. Do you have any hair left on your head? The price reduction comes out good in terms of your moving costs. I am glad that the seller was not miffed at the surveyer's results. Glad that your buyer is still keen...but gosh mate, when will that be final? I thought my own house-buying experience was harrowing, but it seems that yours could be potentially more stressy. How is your Bride holding-up?
Just wish we could get some more progress. Before long we are going to need a date so we can start getting quotes from Furniture moving companies. Cannot do that without a firm date. My wife is a lot more phlegmatic than I am, but it is beginning to get to her. The garden is as tidy as I intend it to be and the house is sorted in that we have really gone to town on de-cluttering. All we need is a date.
Found out yesterday why there has been little progress. Our buyer's Solicitor had not sent some forms back to ours. A few frantic phone calls from Estate agents to buyer and Solicitors and they have been sent (or they claim they have been). We will see what happens on Monday.
Oh, how I hate having my plans dependent upon another. I don't like it in my work nor in my private life. -- Take when we moved...My Bride and I sat down and talked it all through, made a logical "order of events schedule" then called all the all the parties and made firm agreements about dates and times. In the end though, one is always dependent upon those people and how serious they take the agreement with an eye for preciseness. Well moving is a stressy time and I am afraid that I had less and an understanding demeanour when promises were broken...or in one case--forgotten. Mate I sympathise with you 100%. We have not forgotten you here and hope daily that we will hear from you that another step forward has happened with your plans. Hang in there.
Cross everything we are sat here waiting for the vendors to ring back with agreement to the moving date.
Obviously did not cross enough things. It has all gone pear shaped. The vendors have not signed the documents. So now a complete full stop.
Just had a letter from our Solicitor which shows that all the delays, hold ups, problems are down to the vendor's Solicitor. He just has not answered letters from our chap, so they have had to be re-submitted two or three times and still not had a response. In theory the vendors are signing the contracts tomorrow. We shall see!
I have never heard of anything like this, Palu. Is this sort of messing-about normal there? ...or is it all an elaborate attempt to get you to pay more, in spite of the surveyor's result?
From what we hear it is not unknown for Solicitors to fail to do their job in a timely fashion. For example, today, as far as we know our vendors signed the papers, BUT the Solicitor for our buyer could not be contacted to exchange the papers. It is getting very silly. If we could move into rented accommodation, I think we would jack it all in and just go, but that is, sadly , not an option. So, now we have to sit round all day tomorrow waiting for people to do their jobs. They are quick enough to send you their bill!
