I really like cajunbelle's idea of wrapping the tall one with wire and making a trellis out of it. Gorgeous idea.
We found some weird and wonderful stones in our garden too when we moved in GM. Ours is a 17th century cottage in Scotland. I have no idea what any of them are but I've kept them and used them as features in the back garden. I like the idea of ivy or a climbing plant growing up them or maybe you could make the taller one into a sundial.
I'm really intrigued about that second, shorter one. The marks on it make it look exactly like the chunks of sandstone that are mined out of the quarry behind my mom's house, can't imagine why those marks would show up on concrete as they are made by the excavating tools. Just musing outloud
Odd things in the yard? Indeed, I love them! Perhaps they were just a cumbersome job, so she planted around them. Perhaps the former owners tried to get rid of one and found it to be a job they did not want to tackle, so the columns remained. Very neat! I would incorporate them into my garden as well. Maybe cover one with mosaics? :-D Karen Marie
Must Use Them I would follow the wonderful suggestions in this thread, many good ideas. And how would you haul them off anyway? Your yard is beautiful, I will check your blog to share your progress. What Potential!
PILLARS No need to buy Trillis etc,. if you have the pillars. They are wonderful crawlin spaces for vines.......and no worry of being taken.. Looks healthy. Keep us posted on progress.good luck :-D
