It's cute, isn't it? I bet they sell a lot of berries just because of that little stunt. Good question. The strawberry farms are on the Valldal side of the mountain road, easily accessible by road or boat. There are records of farms in Valldal around year 1020, when the Vikings were fighting eachother in the fjords around here. The steep, winding road was originally a dirt track used to carter goods by horse or on people's backs from Ã…ndalsnes over the mountain to Valldal and back. The original road is still there and still in use, but as a foot path for people who love to walk in horrible terrain.
Determined folks for sure. Do you know the type of soil that is up there. Might give me some hints. b
Both were magnificent site to behold! Those were nice shots! It would be nice to pick strawberries by my own but just going to a strawberry field and see those rows and rows of strawberries is good enough. Same here, I always can't wait to reach our destination. I feel like were going to fall around a curve. lol
Sjoerd, it's ferns, moss, lichen, a bit of grass, some small bushes, mainly birch and mountain willows, and probably some juniper too. No idea, but it's been farmed for centuries so it's probably full of nice cow dung. Thank you, Blackrose. I do like to share our region's landscape. I like the way the steep mountain sides go straight into the fjord, with some gentler sceneries here and there.
