Growing up in the south, we had dressing. Living in the north for more years, we manage both. The turkey is stuffed and the extra, baked in a pan, is dressing. I LOVE both, especially the pan-baked dressing because it gets so nicely browned. YUM!
Having established the difference between stuffing and dressing, if I must choose, dressing because it's always browned around edges, corners and on top I LOVE the browned dressing, with enough sage.
