Good afternoon all. We are taking off for the weekend in a little while. Supposed to be beautiful weather for gardening the next two days but I will just keep the curtains drawn on the hotel room window and not think about it. Talk to you sometime Monday.

Good Saturday morning all. Currently -8°C and snowing. I'm not even going to complain about the snow as -8°C sure beats yesterdays frigid -26°C! Today is another commercial holiday I don't like ... Valentines Day. You should let your loved ones know how you feel EVERY day. Off to skating shortly, have a great day all :)

Happy Saturday evening. I got a little bit done out in the yard yesterday, but with freezing temps on their way by midweek, I didn't want to get too far ahead of myself out there. Today was spent on the highway picking up my Christmas present from myself (had to wait until things dried up before I could get it in my truck). You'll see soon in another post. ;)

Good Sunday morning all. Currently -27°C with a windchill of -40°C. This is the coldest it has been all winter so far, and we are into a cold stretch that should last all week. The long range forecast shows it very cold right through March 1st! I am not impressed. My morning dog walk has been postponed to early afternoon when we reach today's high of -20°C (-4°F) Nothing planned today, maybe do some baking to bring up the temperature in here. Have a great day all :)

Good morning everybody, greetings from the land of nor'easters. The latest edition of our weekly blizzard is winding down. Under cover of the dark morning hours howling winds deposited something over a foot of our least favorite version of water. Objects once recognized by their distinctive features are now lumps of white. There is a possibility that I may choose a rhododendron bush instead if an automobile to uncover as we search of transportation.
The birds are working furiously with little snowshovels to uncover breakfast. If the squirrels were quick(they are not), they could walk over and step on to the sunflower feeder. A missed opportunity as they sleep in for several days after a big storm. Besides, they need snowshoes, with the light and fluffy snow they would sink out of sight and not be seen till spring.
I am not venture forth till I see the yellow of the snowplow on our street. Instead I will pour another cup of coffee and curl up with my computer to read the latest Gardenstew posts and daydream of springtime. The snow can wait till later.....much later.....

Good Sunday morning to all of you! I finished cleaning out the dead fronds from the asparagus bed this morning. I started yesterday, and got enough young asparagus to be a side dish for our Valentine's Day dinner.
This afternoon I'm going to up-pot some basil and tomatoes. Heaven knows where there will be room for all these pots, but I'll figure out something.
I am still praying hard for all the members and their families in the northeast, especially Jerry, who tends to overdo with snow removal . . . .

Good Monday morning all. Currently a chilly -26°C (-15°F) and the sun is shining. The wind is gone so it actually feels like -26°C rather than -40°C like it did yesterday. Bundled up for my morning dog walk, and made the dog very happy as she didn't get a walk yesterday due to the cold temperatures. Today is a holiday here in Canada ... Family Day. I will be spending the day with mine :)

Happy Monday morning. Yesterday was overcast, but warm with temps in the low 70s. I finally got the front flower beds all cleaned and mulched. Even started on some feeding. I need to go buy some of those stakes for the fruit trees today.
That cold front is beginning to make its way down here. Temps are dropping from mid60s to mid40s today with some rain. And then near freezing for the next 3 nights. Poor plants don't know what to do! People too! :)

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -18°C and overcast. I think this is the warmest it has been in days! Big clean up needed today ... we had to tear apart the wall in the downstairs bathroom because the pipes froze. And there is also a mess in the upstairs hallway from drywall repairs and painting DH did last week. I'm tired of the messes around here and so today is the day to clean it up! Have a great day all :)

Happy Tuesday morning. I think we got down to freezing earlier this morning, it was 35F when I left home. We may make it to the mid50s today with very little sunshine. I think will be like this for the next 2 days.

Good morning all. Back from a relaxing and junqueing weekend. Now to catch up on GS goings on, laundry and dishes and take photos of my new junque. We have three days of nice chilly weather coming (32 this morning) then Friday and Saturday will be in the 70's again.....then another cold snap next week. Yea!! Winter isn't finished with my part of the country yet.

Good afternoon everyone. Just came in from shoveling my way to the greenhouse. We got dumped with another two feet of snow. The snow fall for our area this year is a total of 8 feet already.
The banks are so high that I can't toss the snow from the shovel up over the top of them! Nothing growing in the green house but the generator to run the house is in there. It is handy a spot if we should need it so I have to keep it all cleared away. More snow coming tomorrow and then again on Sunday. Gosh.... will this ever end!

Toni, we want photos of your new garden junque!
It's sunny now at mid-afternoon, but it was a chilly trek to the barn this morning! If the weather forecast is accurate, I'll be able to get out tomorrow and clean the front flower beds. If not, there is a local weather forecaster that better hide!
Since it was cold today I baked bread and made some smoked chicken and vegetable soup. Sure was nice to come into a warm kitchen with baking aromas after visiting the hens before lunch.
