Good Wednesday morning all. Currently just 9°C and sunny. I have the day off work today to take my daughter to some appointments, and then we are off to the mall. We both need stuff and so we are making the day of it. It is a much needed day with her ... I've been so busy with work that I feel like I hardly see her anymore. Have a great day all :)

Good afternoon everyone. Cold and rainy here for the past several days. Struggling to get the gardens in and won't be able to get near them until at least Friday. The ground is just too muddy. :( All seeds are planted but I have about 65 tomato plants that need to be planted soon. They are in plastic drinking cups and holding their own for now but won't for too much longer. I also have 5 more rows of potatoes, and onion, cucumber and winter squash starts to get in. It is going to be a busy Friday and Saturday! Have a great day to all.:flower:

Happy Wednesday afternoon. Nice and sunny and warm... probably right around 90F. Sure feels good out there.
I feel so much better that I got all the containers fed. And sprayed for munchers. Next up... clean out any more drowned plants and continue with the weeding. Also time to start up-potting some stuff. I sure hope these plants get a good burst of healthy growth... they have to be sale-ready in 2 months.

Good evening all. Mostly cloudy all day, sun only came out for a few minutes late afternoon. Looks like most of June is going to be like this :(
Baked some chocolate chip cookies this morning using a different recipe. I sent some with K to work and they were gone in seconds, and everyone asked for more *lol*
Got some of my plants I brought from moms house in the ground finally. I divided the hosta into 2, although I could have done 3. Got 4 daylilies in, though I still have about 3 or 4 to go. Also planted most of the seedlings I started back in March, before I knew the house was going up for sale.

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 10°C and clear. We have had a great stretch of weather, but watering I will go today. Went to the dentist with my daughter yesterday, and to the mall afterwards. We both got some new clothing. Stopped at a garden center on the way home and had trouble finding a plant there that I didn't already have! Had a great afternoon and then came home and played in the garden. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all.. Netty I know how you feel, I am buying more annuals this year than ever before because I seem to already have all the perennials the garden centers offer....or I know for a fact they will not grow in my garden.

Another sunny, hottish day ahead. We had a late start this year reaching the first 90 degree day but once the door was open to them yesterday now they are lining up with a vengeance until late next week when we might have more rain and a little cooler days. But there is a chance that the number of 100+ degree days will be a paltry few, I hope!!

That's funny Netty and Toni that you mentioned having a hard time finding new perennial plants.... I stopped at the "big" garden center yesterday since they are having their 50% off sale. And what did I buy? Lots of Zinnia's and a couple other annuals. Oh wait... I did get some Caladiums.
Guess it's time to find some new garden centers? LOL
Still nice and dry here... and no rain chances for the next several days. I may actually have to water my beds this weekend! ;)
I think I need to fertilize too.. and maybe get another truckload of mulch since all that rain washed away some.

Good Friday morning all. Currently just 11°C and overcast. Small chance of rain today, and then clearing skies. Would be a great thing if we did get some rain this morning ... it would make my day so much easier! Off to work to drag some hoses and make the place pretty for 2 weddings this weekend. Have a great day all :)

Happy Friday morning. This was my day off for the last few years... now I have to come in for half the day. There goes my three day weekends! Oh well... can use the extra money to buy plants, right? LOL
Another dry and warm day ahead. No complaints. I think its finally going to be dry enough to get everything mowed properly.
My cousin is giving a graduation party tonight for his son. Going to be lots of good food. Can't wait! And his graduation is tomorrow... top of this class... and a basketball star... and will be attending Cornell in the fall.

Good Saturday morning all. Currently just 8°C and sunny. I'm not sure what is up with these cold mornings and hot days, but I like it! Not sure my veggie garden feels the same way though. I'm up early and off to soccer today, for an all day soccer event. I'm trying to forget about all the work that needs doing at home, including cutting grass, watering gardens, dishes, vacuuming and the mountain of laundry. Maybe someone will do that while I am gone (HA!) Have a great day all :)

Good morning! I pulled more carrots this morning, picked green beans, cucumbers, and tomatoes, and checked the garlic. The garlic is ready to come out of the ground and hang to dry, which makes the barn very "aromatic".
Netty, if someone does your housework while you are gone, send them to Texas when they finish. I can use all the help I can get!

Good afternoon all. Almost 90 deg here at 1:30 pm and only going up the rest of the day. After all that rain we had in May (10+ inches in my yard) two weeks of sun and no rain has created cracks in our black clay soil that are several feet long and about 5 inches deep in places. I was out watering this morning and realized that the soaker hose under the mulch in the front garden has two pretty large cracks, it's a pain to replace one under mulch

Going to a friends 70th birthday party this evening. I asked her hubby what she wanted and he said "Plants" so we went to Bruce Miller Nursery this morning to find a well-adapted (if not native Texas) plant that I am pretty sure she will not have. I found a Farfugium japonicum 'Aureomaculatum' ... Yellow Variegated Leopard Plant (it will be in our data base shortly :). Not a native but it does well in Texas.
And of course I found two that I don't have, miracles or miracles there still are plants that I don't have. o_O

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 12°C and sunny. I have one day left of my weekend to get all the work done. I did manage to get the grass cut after soccer last night, and a few things watered. Today the rest needs to get done. DH has decided this is the day to cut up all the firewood I have dragged home and stack it in the shed, only he thinks I am going to help. I think I might hand him the vaccuum, mop and dirty laundry! What ever the case, it's going to be a busy day around here. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. I really thought that by getting up early this morning I would be able to get some work done in the back yard. It's on the east side of the house and it's summer temps here.....what was I thinking???? Already 80 deg at 9 a.m.....yard work is not happening.
Supposed to be cloudy, cooler and rainy later this week so then I will be slogging around out back getting something done.

Later this afternoon I am taking the grandson's shopping for their Mom's birthday which is Tuesday. But other than that I am staying indoors, it was 92 yesterday and supposed to hover around 95 today.
