Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 12°C and cloudy. I am feeling a little more awake than yesterday, but I am still feeling tired. I need a few nights of good sleep to get caught up again I think. It won't be tonight as we have soccer tonight. Off to work, where we are still planting and spreading soil - no wonder I am so tired! Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Three more days close to 100 deg in the forecast then only 90 on Saturday and Sunday with a slight chance of rain. I will be trying to get as much as possible done outside during that little respite, then it will be back to regular summer weather.....and I will return to hibernating inside.

Found a small farmers market in the Half Priced Books parking lot last Sunday and picked up some pickling cucumbers that are in stage one of becoming sweet pickles and squash that I roasted with new potatoes for supper last night. And of course we bought a few things in the book store,

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 14°C and overcast. Counting down the days until the weekend as I am over tired and achy. I have got to stop working so hard! I finally had a chance to go out to my veggie patch yesterday and couldn't believe how much things have grown! Off to work now, where the shoveling and planting continues. Have a great day all :)

Happy Thursday morning. Spent yesterday getting the gym ready for the big reunion. Then home to wage war on stink bugs on my peppers! Grrrrrrr.....
Finally... the rain stops and we get sunshine... and now the bugs come.
Good news for the flooded areas down here... they decreased the dam release from 62,800 cubic feet per second to 48,200. Can already see the difference.

Good morning all. Just another hot and humid day here.

The sweet pickles are finishing stage two and will be cooked and jarred later this afternoon. This place will smell literally like a pickle factory once I get the vinegar/sugar/cuke slices combo cooking but the result will taste sooooo good in a few weeks.

Toni, I sympathize with the cooking odor in your kitchen. Mine smells like tomatoes, lots and lots of tomatoes being cooked down for juice.
Today I went into town and dropped off a few offerings to the local food pantry, got chicken feed, delivered eggs to the hair salon, grocery shopped (if toilet paper, canned tuna, and facial tissues can be considered groceries), and came home to toss grass clippings into the inside coop, which will keep the ladies entertained for the day.
Tomorrow will be house cleaning day. Will someone please come rescue me?:smt100

Good Friday morning all. TGIF!! What a week I have had this week. I am just worn right out! One more day to go and I look most forward to SLEEP this weekend. Looks like Mother Nature agrees as she has a wet weekend ahead. Off to work for one final day of topdressing, mulching and planting. The place should be gorgeous by the end of the day. Have a great day all :)

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 16°C and overcast. We are expecting rain, heavy at times, for most of the weekend. I will finish my coffee and go outside to stake my delphiniums and other tall plants before the rain starts. Then I guess it will be house cleaning weekend. Have a great day all :)

Good morning everyone. Cool but sunny today. Heavy rains are coming. (I think Netty is sending that mess here.... :p ). It will be a busy day of weeding.
This has been a terrible growing season. A lot of rain and the temperature is still way below normal. The growing is very slow except of course for the weeds. Half of my gardens have been invaded with quack-grass ( I have 2 large gardens). There are other names for it but that is what we call it here. It is impossible to pull out. I read that the only way to rid of it is to plant a crop of buckwheat. That means no vegetable gardens for next year if we have to do that.:( And then, where do I get buckwheat? We don't have suppliers of grain here as I don't live in a farming area. Oh well, maybe I'll have to resort to raised bed gardening and plant just a few of our favorites.
    Enjoy day everyone.:flower:

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 12°C and raining. It rained all night too, and so there are huge puddles everywhere. I had hoped to work out in the flower gardens today, but unless it stops raining I will be doing housework. Stopped at the garden center in the local grocery store yesterday and found 2 Hosta's I don't already have on the discount rack for half price. I may sneak out and plant them in the rain so they get watered in. Have a great day all :)

Good Monday morning all. Currently just 12°C and overcast. The rain has finally stopped, and there are HUGE puddles everywhere and my sump pump is running steady. Should be an interesting day at work ... I'm sure there are a few gardens under water. I got a call from a friend to come and take some plants from her garden so I will be stopping on the way home. I'm not sure how much room I have ... hopefully I don't have to make a new garden to accommodate it all. Have a great day all :)

Happy Monday morning. I had a very productive weekend... despite the 1 inch of rain. Everything mowed... and my cousin was finally able to come mow my pasture. Woohooo! I was so happy I even weed-eatted around the trees out there. Then it was time to start on the fence lines... sprayed and sprayed hopefully that'll keep it down for the rest of the year. My push mower is acting up. Hopefully it'll make it through this year.
Sprayed for bugs.... darn stink bugs on my peppers. And sprayed all the plants in containers with neem. And fed them. Gotta get those things looking good for the plant sale in about a month. Guess it's time I go through everything and see what I have and get my list and plant ID tags started.
The local wally-world had lots of plants at 50% off. I picked up some coneflowers for me. And a tropicana Canna for the plant sale, since the ones I have already don't look very good from bugs munching on them.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 14°C and cloudy. Another chance of heavy rain today, that should just fill the pool over the top! Lots to do today as tomorrow is a Holiday here (Canada Day). Its going to be a busy day, but I welcome a day off tomorrow. Have a great day all :)

Happy Tuesday morning. No rain yesterday at the house. woohooo! I did manage to feed/water all the containers yesterday... took almost an entire 55 gallon rain barrel. I noticed the stink bugs have left my pepper plants. That made me very happy. Did I mention the birds destroyed most of my Pears? I only got 4 of them... hope it's enough to make a pie... maybe a few fried pies? And the blasted squirrel(s) destroyed one of my hummer feeders... chewed off the little flower thingys and ripped open a few of the holes. What's with wildlife attacking me lately??:)

Cheryl, you built it (a garden) and they (wildlife) came. They just aren't very well-mannered!
We got rain again this morning, so I'm canning tomatoes and will make a foray out to the barn to bring in more onions that are drying, and the rest of the potatoes.
