Good morning all. Almost forgot that this is my watering day, back to the two days a week request by the city, all the rain we got the first 5 months of this year is evaporating from the lakes and reservoirs quickly and not being replaced so here we go again.

Today I will return to the search for a chink in the brick wall that is my grandmother's life between birth in 1898 and the 1930 census. ..... Or do laundry and dishes, which are sounding like a lot more fun than the other right now. ;)

Good Thursday morning all. Currently just 13°C and dark. I didn't want to get out of my cozy bed this morning ... there was a very cool breeze blowing on me and it felt almost cold! Off to work to clean up the gardens for a wedding this weekend. We have a lot of Hosta's and Lady's Mantle needing deadheading. Have a great day all :)

Good afternoon all! Finally we are having some nicer weather today after a dreary few ones just before. It's amazing how a bit of sun can lift one's spirits :flower: We moved some cattle this morning as the land they were on was getting a bit cut up after all the rain we've had.
Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday ahead!

Morning all. 103 yesterday...in the shade. In the sun it was around 115-120. But the weather people take their readings in the shade...ummm, I wonder if they put the rain gauge under a tree so they don't get an accurate measurement on that!!
The last rain we had was 1/4th of an inch on June 30 (I think, it's been so long) so it's been about 40 days with no rain on my garden.

We made a quick trip to the store last night and do not plan on getting out of the house until some time late next week, hopefully the heat will be easing up by then.

Good Friday morning all. Currently 13°C and clear. It is going to be a lovely day today, with the high expected to be about 13°C. Another busy day at work in preparation for tomorrows wedding, and watering to do. It will be a busy day! I made 12 jars of pickles yesterday, after work and before soccer. I will be making more today :)

Morning all, the only thing good about mornings now is that each one draws me one day closer to Autumn!!

Construction on our street is supposed to begin today, but they still have the streets north, east and south of us torn up and incomplete so probably just the man with the very noisy concrete cutter will be with us for the next few days. But with all the HAM radio equipment in Randy's truck and we would have to park at least 2 blocks away from home, we have decided to extend our hibernation for the duration of the construction too. We have plenty of food and supplies for the first two weeks and after that our daughter will go to the store for us, we will meet her around the corner and haul it home. I do have a wagon not planted in yet that can be used for transport.

Oh, Toni, I do so feel for you! The noise, the inconvenience, and the heat all combine to make for a terrible couple of weeks. I do hope the construction/destruction goes quickly.
We cleaned house today, husband watered our fruit trees, and I made sure the hens had plenty of water and food. We are turning on the coop fan around 11 a.m. since that keeps the coop at 90-ish, which they can easily withstand. Not me, of course.
I have a pecan pie in the oven for our anniversary dinner, and this afternoon will be relaxing inside under the air conditioning.

Happy Friday afternoon. Plant sale done. Not as successful as last year. But still did well. Big changes planned for next year the leftovers will be taken to the next town's bazaar in October.
    Just hot and dry here.

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 14°C and overcast. It was a lovely, red sunrise. Now the clouds are rolling in and it looks like rain. We are off to an all day soccer event in a while ... I do hope it doesn't rain! Have a great day all :)

Another hot and dry day here. No change in the forecast for the foreseeable future.
Today will be spent watering. No need to mow since the grass isn't growing.

Good afternoon all. I think the city engineer lit a fire under the tushy of the construction company when he told them they were going to loose the contract if they didn't get more work done and soon. The crew was out at 7 a.m. this morning (first Saturday they have actually worked even though their contract stated they would work every Saturday), breaking up the street from the cross-street to our south 4 houses away and will be finished with in front of our house in about an hour. No curb, no sidewalk, no driveway entrance between the sidewalk and street. Then we will be well and truly stuck at home.

Good morning all! We were promised just a small period of rain yesterday but it actually lasted much longer. Maybe today will be a bit brighter but the Irish weather system is always unpredictable!
Enjoy your Sunday ahead all :stew2::stew1:

Good Sunday morning all! Currently 15°C and sunny. It is pickling day! I am just waiting for the dishwasher to finish and then I can begin. The brine is ready and so is the dill and garlic, and the cucs are in the sink. It shouldn't take too long. After the pickling is done there is work to do around the house and yard. It surely won't be a lazy day! Have a great day all :)

Good Monday morning all, currently 17°C and dark. Sunrise seems to be getting much later these days. Managed to get 21 jars of dill pickles, 9 jars of bread and butter pickles, and 7 jars of pressure canned green beans. One jar of pickled cucamelons as well. Off to work, where it looks like a day that will be spent dragging hoses again. Have a great day all :)
