Morning all. Another 106, maybe 107 today, a drop to 99 a couple of days later this week then back to 100+. The drought tolerant plants are beginning to question the sanity of trying to grow in north Texas. And my yard is in day 44 of no rain.

On a brighter note, I was talking with the job foreman after they very gingerly removed the sidewalk between our fence and the crepe myrtle tree and our driveway won't be unusable for as long as we thought. They had to change their plans on that part of the job since this is an old neighborhood with many elderly residents and several of them have home health care nurses who visit and they can't get to their houses. And I think the fire department might have had a talk with them cause he mentioned fire trucks and ambulances having a difficult time getting to emergencies....for the same reason.

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 18°C and overcast. We had a little rain fall yesterday, not enough to water the gardens though. Temperatures have been much nicer, and no humidity. Work today and then a day off tomorrow and a dentist appointment tonight. I think I need to get out to the veggie garden today or I could have giant zucchini taking over out there! Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Cloudy this morning, at least there is that! 106 again yesterday, but just 100 today...you know at these temps a few degrees lower really doesn't mean all that much.

On a funny note, I looked out the front door yesterday afternoon to see three of the construction guys standing around looking at something and talking.....the thought ran through my head, "I hope they didn't cut our water line". :suspicious: Turns out that is just what they did. They spent the next hour repairing it. Randy called the city to tell the engineer, Brian, turned out the construction foreman had not reported it so we figure the city water crew should be out here sometime today to check on their repair work. Next time I see Jason, the manipulator of the big back hoe I will have to razz him about it.

Happy Tuesday afternoon. Still just hot & dry here. I need to stop on the way home to buy a new water hose... one of mine is about to burst. Maybe too much use all at once???
I found it kinda funny this morning.... got an emergency notice on my phone about the "no burn ban" being in effect. Just a couple months ago, it was nothing but flood and rain notices! Silly Mother Nature.

Good morning all! Nice day we had yesterday weather-wise :) Allowed us to get a lot of work done so there will be more of the same today.
I've realised that my daily updates have turned into weather reports :p
    Have a great Wednesday all!

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 16°C and overcast. Today is an extra good Wednesday because I have the day off :) Taking the kids to the mall to get our back to school shopping done. I may just get a few things for myself too. Have a great day all :)

Happy Wednesday morning. Actually got 1/2 inch of rain yesterday. Not that such a small amount of rain will help out with the dry spell we're having... but the fact that it dropped the temps from 106F to the low 90s was wonderful!

Good morning all. Okay, not really good considering the temp yesterday was 106 and no rain in my neck of the woods. But the high temps are only supposed to be 100 for the next week. Typically by the end of August our high temps would be staying the in 95 deg range.....getting ready for fall...sometime in November or December.

Frank, this time of the year the weather is only thing I have to talk about but since most of what I say can not be said on this forum I have to tone it down a bit. This dry spell just became the 6th longest in the 110 year history of weather record keeping in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. The longest one on record is 55 days, we are only 15 days away from that and seeing as how there is no rain in the two week forecast, we could be in 2nd place or tied for first by Sept.

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 13°C, but feeling cooler. It sure is getting dark in the morning! Back to work today ... enjoyed my day off yesterday, but now its back to reality. Lots to do today and keeping my fingers crossed for the rain weatherman says we will get tonight. A stop on the way home for some groceries and another day will be done. Have a great day all :)

Good afternoon all! Our temperatures may get into the twenties today, fantastic eh :D It certainly feels fantastic to the farmers. I just came from the fields where I hand-turned some round hay bales to prevent them from slumping under their own weight and to help them to dry out a bit more in this sun. That's a job that's guaranteed to zap ones energy  I think turned around 120.
    Have a top Thursday all!

Morning all. Just another hot and dry day here, next weeks high temps have been officially forecast and they are the same as this week....99-101. I really hate the month of August.

Our temps are in the mid to upper 80's for a few days. Maybe rain later this evening. We had doctor appointments this morning and it said rain by 10 am. That's when the appointments were, but it didn't rain on us. We went to Habitat for Humanity reStore after the appointments and I bought four books. Like I really needed four books. I have a large stack and I'm working on my weekly library trip books. We got home around 3 pm. We did stop for lunch, too. Now, I'm going to go and make some blueberry pancakes for supper. Then, my day will be done for the most part. The doctor appointments were routine and things are fine.

Dooley, glad to hear the doctors' appointments were routine and you and DR and doing well.
We love the Habitat store in Waco--both for donating unneeded, unused things, and to pick up items for remodeling the house. I even found those seed starting kits with the plastic dome, so I came home happy from our last trip!
I didn't do much today--went into town and stopped by the hardware store to get shelf supports; took our monthly donation into the food pantry; got groceries; and dropped off brown eggs and French bread at the hair salon (they sell our honey and won't take a commission, so I like to give them a little something now and again).
Worked on our monthly newsletter for a bit this afternoon.

Good morning all! Beautiful day yesterday, best day all year. I would think quite a few people would have got a sunburn, seeing as how us Irish tend to think we can withstand any sunny days :snicker: I have my suncream on though, learned that lesson too many times before.
    Have a terrific Friday all!

Good Friday morning all. Currently 20°C feeling like 26°C already with the humidity. I am thankful that it is Friday and I will be able to sleep in tomorrow. A day of dragging hoses ahead, and then home to cut grass and water the gardens. Have a great day all :)
