Good Thursday morning all. Currently just 3°C Brrrrr! I imagine there will be frost settling when the sun comes up so I'll be out there in a minute carrying in some tender plants and hope that its not too late for them. I am really not ready for this yet!
Off to work, have a great day all :)

Good morning all. And from almost on the other end of the north American Continent, I am so ready for fall/winter weather. We have overcast skies, what a welcome relief from 99% of the last 5 months and supposedly a cool front is on it's way. Tomorrow might be a wonderful day, low of 60, high of 79.... I am not betting on that happening, so many of those fronts take a last minute sharp turn to the east and miss us totally. Oh, and it's dry as usual.

Presently, it is extremely overcast with spates of rain.
Our "gardening" duties today consist of foul weather preparations - we're getting things battened down between ongoing rain showers because Hurricane Joaquin is currently forecast (by most :fingerscrossed: tracking models) to pass by offshore (although, we are being constantly reminded that it would only take a wee wobble to change that track) -
so, we are in hope-for-the-best-BUT-prepare-for-the-worst mode. :smt083
The entire state of NC is already getting flood warnings, with predictions of terrific rainfall totals set to combine with increasingly heavy surf/storm surge here along the coast.

:fingerscrossed:fingers, :fingerscrossed:toes and :fingerscrossed:eyes.....that you only get a bit of high wind and light rain.

Some of the people who create those weather tracking models are so funny, there is one that has us dropping down into the 40's by Friday night....I wish but, they just don't know Texas weather if they think that.

Thanks Toni, all good wishes most gratefully received. :)
And my hope for you is that you get at least a bit of that comfy, cooling air flow.

More good wishes for all of you along the east coast that may be affected by Joaquin. Most things can be replaced, but Stewies cannot, so please stay safe!

Good morning all! Stay safe to any Stew members that may be affected by the hurricane mentioned above.

I have a dental appointment this afternoon. I'm not proud of it but this will be my first visit to the dentist in 6 years  That's always the way with men in my family, we wait until something gets bad before we get it checked. It's a terrible habit I know.

    Have a safe Friday all!

Stay safe Zuzu, and all Stewbies in Joaquin's path. This storm is also expected to bring heavy rain to southern Ontario this weekend.
Good Friday morning all. Currently just 1°C and clear. There is a definite heavy frost out there this morning, and so I am preparing for total kill of my annuals and remaining veggies. I can't complain, its been a great season, but I'm not a fan of cold weather. I have the day off today to help my daughter get settled into her new house. Have a great day all.

    Thank you, Netty, :)

Hope that appt goes well today, Frank. :dislike:

It's still raining here  - but we're lucky, that this is not Joaquin - and thankfully, that storm's track is looking like it should spare most of the US east coast.
For us, it's the same stationary system which has been "parked" over this region for days, and seems inclined to stay for several more days yet. I do wish that there was some way to divert some of this rain to areas which need some - my ankles are getting mossy.

My heart really goes out to the residents of the Bahamas and surrounding islands, coping with a powerful hurricane for well over 24 hours is no joke. :(

Good morning all. And I do mean GOOD morning, the cool front did move through and the temp when I got up was 62 deg and it's wonderful. Of course the sun is winning now so the temp is rising quickly but if I get out in the backyard soon I can actually get some weeding done. It'll be only the second time in almost 5 months that I have been able to get out there. Now to find my gardening hat and shoes.....where did I last see my trowel ..... do I have enough large paper bags to hold ALL of those weeds for trash pickup????

Good Saturday morning all. Currently just 6°C and windy. We have lit the woodstove and it is cozy warm inside. I have an excited girl here, getting ready to get back on the ice for the first time since May... figure skating season begins today! Of course this means I lose an hour each Saturday morning and 2 evenings a week, but that's OK ... she LOVES it! Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Another cool morning, with no rain, but really nice and cool. 60 deg when I got up and it feels wonderful outside.

I actually bought plants yesterday, first time since April I think. But I wanted some color other than the Goldenrod. Just some assorted color Petunias, 2 purple Calibrachoa, a Goldmoss Stonecrop and several Dianthus. I think getting those in pots and situated today will be the all the gardening I do. I am so sore from yesterday and tomorrow we are going to Randy's folks to get their family room cleared out so new flooring can be put down on Tuesday.

. . . Still raining here . . . we poured a little over 5 inches out of our backyard gauge (which accrued over the last 24 hrs), and adding that with what we received the several days before, we've measured 8+ inches since last weekend - so it's rather "dampish" here abouts.
The forecasters say that we shouldn't expect the rains to clear out until Tuesday. o_O Numerous communities around have been hit even worse, and are declaring this as an historic event.

Can't even begin to say how grateful we are that hurricane Joaquin is not coming our direction - :notworthy:

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 8°C and overcast. I had a disappointed little girl yesterday ... seems skating doesn't begin until Monday night! Seems we have made a new tradition ... we were an hour LATE for skating last year and missed it all. Maybe next season we will get it right haha We are heading over to see our oldest daughter in her new house today, and meet the new puppy. This afternoon we return and have lots of work to do around the house. Have a great day all :)

Good afternoon all! Slightly windy and nippy day here today but nothing too much to complain about :)

My dental appointment on Friday didn't go so well but I expected as much. Seems like a root canal I had done about six years back is infected so the options are to get it re-done or extraction. The tooth behind it will need a possible root canal and there are 2-3 fillings to be done elsewhere. Urgh, really not look forward to all of that :(

Hope you are all safe and well this Sunday!
