Good morning all. Not as cool this morning but still wonderful and it's foggy. We haven't had a foggy morning in a loooooong time, but then the humidity outside hasn't been 92% in a very long time either.

Had dinner with oldest daughter and youngest grandson last evening. She has only 2 more courses to work on and then she will have finished her Master's Degree classes. The stress of the most recent course had her craving fried foods for comfort, so we picked up chicken and fries from Cane's and took them with us.

Tonights dinner was just delivered to us. Last night our daughter told us she had a container of white chili for us and we forgot to bring it home. She took a personal day from work today and after dropping her oldest off at college she brought it here. Yipe, another night of no cooking.

Happy Monday afternoon. Well the rain just kept coming and coming. So much so that it chased me out of the house. I made sure to put any items that were on low shelves up on the beds. Packed up Sassy's bed, food etc. Grabbed me clothes for 3 or 4 days. And spent the night at one of my aunt's house last night.
The water was at the top of the first step to my porch (approx 5-6 inches) and it was rising quickly.
I worried all night and then it occurred to me.... why didn't I put all the potted plants up on the porch? Some gardener I am! :)
So I went to the house this morning. Had to park at my neighbors driveway and walk in. The water hadn't gotten to much deeper, so that was a big relief... no water in the house. Yippee!
Landscape timbers were floating. Plastic tote boxes were floating. All kinds of stuff. So I managed to find places for the potted plants and came into work. My brother just went to the house and said that water was BELOW the first step... so that's good news!
Now, with all this evacuation practice under my belt, I'm ready for the rains that are supposed to return this weekend. (I miss the drought!!!!)

Oh Cheryl, how very worrisome for you. Bless you for worrying about Sissy! I'm so glad the water began to recede before it breached your porch.
I hope your gardens all survive and that you can locate all the "stuff" that was floating.
We have been lucky--just standing water in the garden paths, and we had to put in an elevated floor in the new coop so the hens wouldn't have to wade. I have a ton of weeding to do--first it was too dry and the ground was too hard, and now it's so muddy that I wouldn't be able to get out of the gardens if I managed to get in! If it doesn't pour down this coming weekend I'll be yanking weeds like crazy!

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 10°C and sunny. Today's high is expected to reach 16°C, and tomorrow's 19°C! This is unheard of for November! I will be taking full advantage and working outside in the yard for the next few days.
Managed to control myself at Costco yesterday - sort of! Still spent $185 but got a few Christmas gifts as well as stocking up on a few necessities.
Oh my goodness Cherylad and Marlingardener, please stay safe!

Cheryl, Very glad that you, Sassy and the house are okay. We haven't had much in the way of standing puddles, the ground is soaking it all up with delight.

A little foggy this morning and chilly but the sun is to return later with temps in the mid-70s then another rain event on Thurs. After Thurs the overnight lows are supposed to drop down into the 40's....window open, fan pulling cool air in, top sheet up around my ears...wonderful sleeping weather.

Today I will be out front trying to change the look of the north sun bed. It has been the bane of my gardening life since I started out front about 6 years ago. I can not get the weeds and grass under control. Last Spring I dug up as many of the Canna along the front edge as I could find and hosed down the area with weed killer, several times .....the weeds just giggled at my efforts and laughed heartily as they regained dominance of the area just like every year. Now that the sidewalk has been replaced I can make a full assault on it.....it's either them or me....trouble is I am pretty sure who will be the victor of this battle....again.

Cheryl, good to hear that the flood waters are staying out of your house. I hope the rain abates soon. You are in our prayers.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 6°C and sunny, with a high of 19°C expected. Yesterday was such a beautiful day and I spent most of it outside, cleaning gardens and burning brush. I will spend most of today the same way. I only wish this weather would keep up all winter long! Off to get our skates sharpened before todays lesson, and then out to the garden. Have a great day all :)

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 11°C and overcast. We are set to hit a record today, with the temperatures expected to go up to 21°C (70°F). This is unheard of here for November 5th! Last year at this time we were already under a blanket of snow!
I am taking full advantage and spending the day out in the yard. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. A whoppin' .04 measurement from the rain gauge this morning, radar shows it's all 'training' to the northeast but it's way east of us. Supposed to be a cool front move through later today dropping the temps into the 60's for a few days......we'll see.

The landscaping portion of the street construction crew came down our street yesterday. They dug out about 3 inches of the dirt they put down on the hell strip in front of my house by mistake last month. And the word that I wanted no sod laid had gotten passed down to them so this weekend we start revamping that area.

This evening we are going to the store to stock up for a 5 day weekend, food, project supplies, booze....you know, the necessities of life....so we don't have to go anywhere for the next 5 days. Randy has a 4 day weekend, and since he works from home Tuesday will be a home day too, then we go down to his folks on Wednesday. I have such a long list of projects waiting.....working on the hell strip and cleaning up the back room so he can use the table saw and work area to start building a back door for starters.

Good Friday morning all. Currently 16°C with strong winds and rain showers. I do supposed that beats snow squalls! Had hoped for a nice day ... a friend is taking me over to a friends gardens that are supposed to be very impressive. I do hope we don't get rained out! After that, I have some canning to do and some cleaning as well. Have a great day all :)
Just found out I missed my 'Stew-versary' on Tuesday! I have been coming to GardenStew for 9 years now! Time flies when you are having fun! Thanks again Frank, Toni and Eileen for all you do to make this such a great place :)

Happy Stew-versary @Netty! Hard to believe it's been that long now.

Good morning all! So far November has been mixed but mostly on the wet side so there's not much happening on the nature side. I would reckon there is another 2 weeks before the birds arrive at the feeders for real.

    Have a wonderful Saturday all!

Good Saturday morning all. Currently just 5°C and sunny. Up early today to get a bit of extra ice time, my daughter is working on an ice dance and test day is approaching quickly. I may also practice a little, depending on how much room there is on the ice. After that, laundry and baking I think. Have a great day all :)

Good Sunday morning all. Currently just 4°C and feeling a lot more fall like then last week! Got the laundry done yesterday, today I have to fold it all. Also got the cabbage and apples made and canned, and some coleslaw made as well as a delicious cabbage roll casserole for dinner. Today, applesauce and baked beans to can. Busy, busy! Have a great day all :)

Good afternoon all. This has been one of the most productive weekends we have had in a long time. We did leave home a couple of times...mainly to pick up some project supply that we had not anticipated and since we were out we stopped to get lunch. Got one more to finish up this afternoon, then I will start making a project list for next weekend. Tomorrow is the last day of hubbies 4 day weekend so I think I will release him from duty and let him work on some of his own projects ;)

Good Monday morning all. Currently just 3°C but warming up nicely to 11°C this afternoon. Up bright and early today and thinking about trying to finish up all the outdoor projects. This mild weather surely won't last much longer! Have a great day all :)
