Good afternoon all! The rain is really coming down today and there is a strong wind out. Today is most definitely a day for the ducks *quack* I'm happy I don't have to do a lot of outdoors work today :wobble:

Have a top start to your week all!

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 0°C and sunny. There is a thick layer of frost on everything this morning, looks kind of pretty. Found out last night that a neighbor was robbed last Thursday night while they were in the house sleeping. It was a stormy night, but it didn't stop thieves from entering the vehicles in the driveway and stealing any money or valuables found, as well as taking their ATV. This is a rural farm neighborhood, we are all spaced far apart and we all have long driveways and so this makes it extra creepy. It takes a LOT of nerve to go up a 600 foot private driveway in the dark, go through all the cars and then drive a 4 wheeler right past the house - in the middle of a storm!! Needless to say, surveillance equipment has been installed. I just hate thieves it makes me sick!

I have some stuff to do outside this morning, before the rain begins. Have a great day all :)

Oh my gosh, Netty! What an awful violation - it really is sickening and frightening. I hope that the thieves will be caught and duly prosecuted

We're seeing the first few sunbeams in 3 days this morning - it's warm and muggy, and the mosquitoes are so thick that it's crazy!

Oh, Netty, that can be very disturbing when it happens in your neighborhood.
Our house is alarmed, got it hooked up several years ago. Most of our neighbors have car alarms instead of home alarms...talk about skewed priorities.

Good afternoon all. It is a beautiful day for gardening but I over did a couple of things yesterday and we are going down to Randy's folks tomorrow so I figured it would be best to stay inside today and wait until Thurs to get back out there.

We are supposed to foster a friends cat this month and next but he hasn't been able to Wizard into the carrier for his 'fix' at the vet that is to happen first. I guess Doug shouldn't have used the work 'fix' when Wizard was in the room.

And repairs to our roof were supposed to happen last week but have been put off until most likely next week, the rains have put their schedule back about a week.

Netty, remember that things can be replaced, YOU can't be replaced! I'm so sorry your neighbor was robbed--it makes everyone nearby nervous. Please, stay safe--I want to be able to tell you next summer how your garlic pickles turned out!
I finished washing windows today, then we mowed the back yard and put the grass clippings in the outside coop for the hens. We have very happy ladies, rearranging the clippings and generally doing a Martha Stewart imitation.

Wow Netty, sorry to hear about your neighbourhood getting robbed. In rural Ireland burglaries are on the increase also and the robbers are getting more brazen, even stealing stuff in broad daylight  We've recently joined up in the community alert scheme (text alert scheme) so hopefully that will deter the robbers somewhat. Stay safe and vigilant!

Good morning all! The terrible weather continues here and some storm winds are on the way tomorrow and Friday due to Storm Abigail:

Hope all of our members / visitors in Ireland and the UK will get through it fine.
    Have a top Wednesday all!

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 7°C and overcast with some light rain falling - more like a heavy mist. I had a long walk with the dog this morning and discovered there is a lot of garbage in the ditches on our road. The next time we go I will take a bag along and pick it up. What the heck is WRONG with people? Why can't they just keep it in their cars until they get home and dispose of it properly? UGH! Ok, rant over :) Mopping floors today ... fun wow! The rest of my day will depend on what the weather decides to do. Have a great day all :)

Morning all. Feels like early late spring out this morning, 91% humidity and 70 deg. Before the cool air of the front comes through this afternoon the temp is supposed to be up in the 80's and it won't start raining until the front is out east of us so it looks like we will be high and dry. But the first freeze of the year is being hinted at for sometime mid-to-late next week.

Today being a federal holiday and hubby being a federal employee, he is off work today so we are making a trip down to his folks to see how they are doing. See you all this evening.

Not a good day in our area. The local police chief was shot while moonlighting at a nightclub as a security guard. He passed away on Tuesday, and today the town and surrounding area are in mourning. His funeral is Saturday, so the rest of this week will be pretty subdued.
There is a fund set up to help out the family. I cannot imagine the grief and confusion his dear wife is going through at this point.
Candlelight vigil on Friday evening, which we plan to attend.

Afternoon all, today is way different from yesterday. Our high temp will be lower than the overnight low on Tuesday. Yesterday hit 83, today maybe 68....I like todays weather much better than yesterday.

The 'landscaping' (really construction guys in a different shirt) came by while we were out of town yesterday and laid more sod .... but they remembered and didn't put any down on our hellstrip. Tomorrow I am going to put together my own version of a wildflower mix and sprinkle it out there, then cover it all with mulch. I am really hoping for a bee and butterfly friendly wildflower garden there next year....then after they bloom and set seeds I will start moving some perennials into that strip.

Jane, I heard something about the shooting on the news but didn't catch all the info. Very sad, will be thinking about you all this week.

Oh my gosh Jane ... that is horrible! Sending thoughts and prayers to all. Again I ask what is wrong with people?
Morning all ... currently 5°C with strong winds and rain, changing to snow later I am told. My internet was down for a while, but seems to be working fine right now. Darling daughter had some ice time before school today for a dance lesson, then I went shopping and spent more money. I need to stay away from stores lol Cleaning house now and maybe making some French Onion Soup. Have a great day all :)

Gooooooooood morning all. I love Autumn, when the weather is nice, chilly and rain every few days.

Got another roofer checking things out to give us a quote, the guy we choose first has been a no-show for a couple of weeks. We cut him some slack about that since there were some rainy days in that time period but when he doesn't bother to return calls then he will be replaced for the job if this quote is good.

Good Saturday morning all. Currently just 1°C and overcast.
Not sure that it really IS a GOOD morning ... it used to be that every day I woke up on this side of the ground was a good day. After listening to the news this morning from Paris, I am left standing here in shock.
More and more I ask myself what the heck is wrong with people, and what kind of world will be left for my kids and grandkids. Why oh why do people feel the need for such senseless violence?
When is the madness going to end? Thoughts and prayers to Paris ...

We were watching TV last evening, and the network broke into the program with the Paris news. One of the more heartening things about this whole tragic, senseless event is that, while the stadium was being evacuated, the crowd spontaneously started to sing the French national anthem. God bless the French! You have to admire their courage.
"what kind of world will be left for my kids and grandkids." Hopefully a world that has less hate, less intolerance, and more understanding that we all are humans, and we really need to learn to get along with one another.
