Happy post-turkey day to you all! I've got turkey stock going on the stove, and the dark and white meat sliced and in separate containers. We are having ravioli for dinner tonight (but not with turkey in it) and then tomorrow, it's back to having Thanksgiving dinner déjà vu!
Husband is putting electric candles in the windows for Christmas, and I'm making out my seed order for Pinetree Seeds. They have a 15% off sale going today and Saturday, so I'm ordering now!

Good Saturday morning all. Currently -3°C and overcast. Did a little bit of online shopping yesterday, but I really wasn't finding what I was looking for. Maybe I'll have better luck on Monday. I also picked a bunch of Kale from the garden yesterday.
Off to the arena for Saturdays skate, and then off to another town to watch some team mates compete. Have a great day all :)

Good afternoon all! Our weather has turned pretty rough again. Very gusty and quite wet. The land outside in the fields is so saturated at this stage that the animals will easily cut it up by walking on it. We have our cows and most of the cattle indoors for the winter now so it's not really a problem.
I haven't seen any Christmas decorations up on the neighbour's houses yet but I'd say that'll change once December 1st reaches us.
    Have a top Saturday all!

Good morning all. Thursday morning there were 2 houses all lit up for Christmas, last night there were 3 more .... even with the rain all day yesterday they still had to decorate this early.

So far since Wednesday my gardens have gotten 7.58 inches and there is supposed to be more heading our way later today but the ice and snow are staying out west of us in the Lubbock and Amarillo areas. :(

As of 12:14 a.m. this morning the NWS reported that the Dallas/Ft. Worth official rain total was 53.56" for the year breaking the old record from 1991, making 2015 the wettest year for us in the almost 120 years of record keeping and there is still a month left to go before 2016 arrives.

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 0°C and overcast. I had a long walk with the dog this morning and now I am enjoying a cup of coffee. I have laundry to do, and some cleaning and baking, but I am feeling kind of lazy today. We shall see what actually gets done! Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. The rain is supposed to end sometime today, I will be sad to see it go but others in the flood areas will be thrilled.
Yesterday I cleaned house, put it off as long as I could but I thought I saw the shadow of a health department inspector outside so I figured it was time to get it done. With all the leaves that have fallen in the rain and wind that are on the sidewalk and driveway laying in a soggy heap, it will prove to have been a futile effort .... as they will all migrate into the living room by tomorrow night and will have spread into the far corners of the rest of the rooms by Wednesday and I will just have to clean again. Cleaning house twice a year is wearing me down, maybe I can ask for a maid service for Christmas.

Good Monday morning all. Currently -3°C and overcast. It looks gloomy out there today. Kind of makes for a gloomy mood, but maybe some coffee and a shower will fix that. I might do a little cyber Monday shopping IF I can find some good deals. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. The rain has come to an end in Texas, except for a little bit way to our southwest. My gardens received 8.74 inches since Thursday and soaked up every drop, not a puddle of standing water anywhere. There is very serious flooding happening in a lot of places though and I think 14 deaths because of it.

I spent yesterday still trying to find my grandmother through Ancestry and a couple of others previous to the 1930 Census. Had even thought about hiring one of their pros to see what they could find but got a free estimate of $2300 for 20 hours. I figure I could travel to each place I know she lived and dig around cheaper than that so I will continue the frustrating searches until someday something pops up about her prior to my Mom's birth in 1926.

Good morning all! Quite windy and a bit wet again. We had yet another named storm two days ago, Storm Clodagh, that left a lot without power. Thankfully we weren't very affected but doubtless that it will be the last storm of the year at this stage.
Have a great start to your December all!

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -1°C and overcast. Another gloomy morning. Off to have a coffee with a friend this morning ... haven't seen her since August and so we have a lot to catch up on. Then it will be home to start digging out the Christmas decorations. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. For the first time in about a week the sun will take over the sky again during today and reign supreme until Sunday when another chance of rain arrives.
Soppy and soggy outside but 8.77 inches of rain that fell on my garden since last Thursday has soaked into the ground. I do believe the last of this years pecan crop has finally fallen from the trees, didn't hear much hitting the roof and back of Randy's pickup during the rain. But what did fall is buried under soggy yellow-brown pecan leaves now so they will just be scooped up, bagged and put out in the backyard to compost over the winter and spring.
I picked up around 25-30 pounds of nuts this last few weeks and that's just the ones that actually ripened. After the rain we are getting this fall, next years crop should be even better.

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 3°c and overcast. A mild day ahead, it would be a good day to do some work outside, and maybe a little Christmas decorating out there. I got most of the Christmas decorations up in the house yesterday, with the exception of the tree which goes up on the 18th. This time last year we had a foot of snow on the ground, today there is none and a mild week ahead. I am not complaining! Have a wonderful day everyone :)

It's afternoon here, but I have to share our insane weather. It's 10°C/50°F. Another storm is on the way in. The storms are queing up in the North Sea. They all want to pay me a visit. I've managed to exercise the horses between rain showers. Tomorrow we're supposed to have dryish weather, then we'll have to get ready for the storms again. Winter can be challenging at times. Have a nice day!

Chilly this morning at 39 degrees, but we'll hit 50 by mid-afternoon, so that will be outside time. This morning is grocery shopping. I've got my list of needed items for Christmas baking. My husband says that my holiday baking is planned better than the invasion of Normandy (and the kitchen looks similar after I finish!).
