Good morning all. 35 deg at some point early this morning, we have a time and temperature gadget on the front porch that shows the information on our bedroom ceiling.....it's an electronic gadget, hubby loves them. Between his electronic gadgets and my junque our house is a time machine, part modern and into the future and part old with a touch of rust and "my grandparents had that or one like it" Just depends on which direction you are facing at the moment.

Should be dry enough to get out and shovel up leaves this afternoon....and I do mean shovel. The three pecan trees, two Crepe Myrtles and a huge hackberry out front all lost pretty much all of their leaves last weekend during all the rain and wind and basically you can not see the walkway or driveway. So with shovel in hand and several large black bags I will attempt to clear a path. The bags will go out back for the next few months to hopefully become compost for next year. They do it in the gutter at the curb I certainly hope they know how to do it in a black plastic bag too.

Good Friday morning all. Currently 4°C and overcast. Busy day ahead, and then picking up my son from school for the weekend. Christmas shopping is going slowly this year ... Having trouble finding just the right things. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Our weather is in a warming trend for now, should be in the upper 60's by the middle of next week. I should be able to get a little more clean up done in the garden by then.

Errands and some gift shopping to do today. Oldest grandson turns 20 yrs old today very hard to believe it was that long ago that I was watching him be born.

Good afternoon all! Or should I say not so "good" from this end. We have a Status Red (highest level) rainfall warning and a Status Orange wind warning in effect from 6PM today. Supposedly we will get a month's worth of rain in a 36 hour period  So we are awaiting this evening with trepidation. The land is already very wet from before and some areas of the country have already had flooding. I dread to think what further damage tonight's rain will do.
Enjoy your Friday! I'll update you all tomorrow if our internet connection holds up.

Frank, wishing you the best in all this bad weather forecast. We got a month's worth of rain in 48 hours, so it can be survived if not enjoyed.
Hoping to hear from you tomorrow, and hoping to hear that the forecast wasn't as dire as it seemed.

It's finally above freezing today after 5 days in the teens and nights in the single digits. Of course that means snow is in the forecast ... that is if the weatherman is right. There's about 1 1/2 inches of snow left and my poor flowers are all sleeping. This sounds mild compared to what is forecast for you Frank. I'm wishing the best and, if possible, let us know that you are alright.

Good morning all! The weather forecasters were right on the money, it has been raining ever since my post yesterday. There is said to be 35mm already and that will double before tomorrow morning. The roads are becoming mini-streams in some parts with a lot of spot flooding in others. No damage yet thankfully. I feel sorry for animals in the fields. We have the majority of ours inside but there are some that are not. It's going to be tough for them.
Amazingly we still have power and internet. You can follow updates here: https://twitter.com/hashtag/StormDesmond
    Enjoy your Saturday all!

Frank, good to hear from you this morning and hear there is no damage. Hope it stays that way!
It's bright and sunny here so we'll continue to dry out, but it's still too soggy to mow (don't want to put ruts in the lawn, such as it is). I'll bake gingerbread men this morning, and maybe some apple turnovers.

Frank, very glad Desmond didn't cause any damage or outages. I was looking at the list of storm names the Met Office uses, there are some that the U.S. NWS hasn't included in our tropical storm/hurricane names before....and I see that #6 will be named after you. Unless I missed it, I don't think a U.S. storm has ever been named after me.

Good morning all. Looks like we may have had our winter temperatures, two days in the 40s, maybe a couple more in January. So unless a McFarland signature develops (I first heard it called the Siberian Express many years ago, it's a jet-stream pattern that brings arctic air deep into Texas) I very well could be seeing my garden come to life as early as late January and not just the Daffs and Tulips. :(

We got all but one errand completed yesterday, today is stay at home and accomplish something better....until about 4:30 when we leave to meet oldest daughter and grandsons for supper.

Good Saturday morning all. Currently 1°C and overcast with heavy fog this morning. We were up bright and early for skating this morning, and now home to have breakfast before taking my son out Christmas shopping. He is still sleeping so it should be a while. Glad you haven't been washed away Frank! I just hate the anxiety I feel when in bad weather, so I can understand how you feel in the midst of Desmond. Hoping it all ends for you soon.
Have a great day all :)

Good morning all! Storm Desmond has finally passed over and today is a lovely, bright relief. No damage to report thankfully and from what I've heard there were no casualties around the country. Flooding exists in some part but it's a price that can be paid. I believe there is another weather system coming in tomorrow but it won't reach storm category :stew2:

Hope your Sunday is bright wherever you are!

Glad to hear the storm is over Frank, and with no damage. Phew. Good Sunday morning all. Currently -2°C and sunny. It looks like fog has frozen and dropped to the ground here ... like a very heavy frost. Forgot to take my camera on my dog walk this morning - too many other things to carry thanks to that bear:setf_052:
Taking my son back to school later today, and some laundry to finish off. Not too much time lef to Christmas shop ... time to make a list! Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Well the birthday dinner last night with our oldest grandson didn't happen.....he came down with the flu Friday night. What a way to spend a 20th birthday. :crying:

Got youngest grandson and youngest daughter holiday gifts ordered last night......darn I wish we had started buying Amazon stock a few years ago.

I will be forcing myself to sit and knit today, new yarn and new ideas for a couple of gifts and 2 1/2 weeks to get them done.

Good Monday morning all. Currently 4°C and overcast. A mild week ahead according to the weatherman ... hitting 12°C by Saturday! We are off to the big city today for a dental appointment with my daughter, and then to the mall for some Christmas shopping. I hope to get most of it done so we can start wrapping. Have a great day all :)

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 3°C and overcast. A little foggy this morning, but I expect the sun will be out soon to burn it off. Only purchased 1 thing in all of our travels yesterday ... everything was so expensive!! I think I'm going to stick around my neighborhood and support the local business rather than the big box. They usually have better quality items anyway, and you get much nicer service. Have a great day all :)
