Good morning all. I do believe that Mother Nature has not looked at her calender in a while and thinks that it is still September or October in north Texas. Our temps will be going up into the 70s the next few days with Friday getting awfully close to 80.

And since it is to be warm for the next few days, I will feel extremely guilty if I don't get out and do something useful in the garden.

Good afternoon all! The weather hasn't been terrible since last weekend's storm but the rain is returning today. There are areas 20 minutes from where I am which are completely flooded, homes ruined. Some homes haven't been able to get flood insurance since the last flooding incident 6 years ago and now they are completely out of options. Thankfully we live on a slightly high elevated area so no chance of flooding here. Very sad for those homes that are flooded. The army has even been called in to assist in the worst affected areas.
    Have a nice day all!

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 3°C and sunny. Another lovely day in the neighborhood today, so I'm going to agree with Toni that Mother Nature has lost her calendar. We are expecting a high of 8°C today, and 10°C on Friday! I noticed that I have poppy seedlings out in the back garden, and my pinks are looking very perky. I hope this weather doesn't cause a lot of losses in next years garden! Today, I have to figure out where all my expected packages are ... still waiting for 7 deliveries of things that I bought before/on Black Friday. I've never had to wait this long so I'm wondering if a news story I saw last week about an overturned mail truck on the freeway has something to do with it? I hope not! Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Yesterday was a sad day, I had to take our youngest daughter and her ferret to the vet for the final time. Caprina had Insulinoma (opposite of diabetes) for over a year and the meds just couldn't control it any longer. She was in pain and almost always seizing so it was time. She was 7 years old and had been part of our family for almost 5 years.
Pets are wonderful until a day like that.

Toni, I'm so sorry for your daughter's pet's demise. But Caprina had five years of a great life and I'm sure you and your daughter will remember her with smiles, after a while.
We lost our beloved Calico cat last February, and we only recently have been able to talk about her quirks and lovable antics--the same will come for you, eventually. Meanwhile, please accept my sympathy.

It's always hard to lose a pet. We have had a couple dogs for long terms and was upset when they passed on.
The weather here has been warmer than normal for this time of the year. I'm hoping it will stay that way. The colder weather stays north of us up near Green Bay, Wisconsin. It was 44 degrees today and the forecast is for 53 degrees tomorrow. Mostly unheard of for this time of the year in Wisconsin. We've had some rain but not any snow yet. Lots of people out doing shopping in this nice weather. We've been riding the bus most everyday since we moved here last March. I think we've only missed a couple of days. Of course, the buses don't run on Sunday so we walk that day.

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 4°C and sunny. Another nice day ahead, but I'll be out doing my errands and shopping this morning, and maybe some Christmas shopping too. I am running out of time! Have a great day all :)

Sorry to hear about your daughter's pet loss @toni
Good morning all, calm enough day here today. Flooding still going on in many areas with the peak to come this Saturday. Here is an article about a neighbour that lives near my brother-in-law http://connachttribune.ie/galway-families-face-reality-of-flood-fall-out-378/ The photo shows a road we drive on very frequently, only that it's not visible now.
    Enjoy your Thursday ahead!

Oh, dear, poor Mr. Quinn. I hope he does get some assistance to rebuild. Some folks living around a lake not far from here rebuilt their homes on stilts after a bad flood a few years ago, it was the 2nd or 3rd time they had lost everything.

Good morning all. Warming up here, should be around 80 deg tomorrow. You can tell which news and weather people on TV didn't grow up in this area by how they respond to certain weather conditions....most are way over reacting to the warm weather we are having this Dec. There have been years when cold weather showed up in November and by January my roses were in full bloom. And they are warning of the slight chance of tornadoes in the area Friday and Saturday like that doesn't happen here at all. We have had tornadoes happen in every month, one of the worst being the one that hit Mesquite and Garland (east side suburbs of Dallas) in Dec 1984.

But today I am making soap for presents and our use. Got 7 fragrances done and enough melt and pour Goats Milk base to make one more.

We are enjoying balmy weather also. Woke up to a misty rain, which disappeared quickly. I went into town and did some preliminary gift-giving of cookies and breads, grocery shopped, and then stopped by the thrift store to get some baskets for gifts. This afternoon I'll catch up on my non-sweet baking and put a pot of chicken stock on the stove.

It was raining when dr looked out around 6:30 pm. It's supposed to rain most of the day tomorrow with a lull now and then. Since we walk everywhere or take the bus I think we will stay home. I will do some sewing or baking. I want to make some cookies. All I have made are pfeffernusse. They have to age awhile. I bought some small tins and want to give some as gifts. I want to mail a couple of small boxes, too. I will make some sugar cookies and some gingerbread cookies. I did forget to buy some sprinkles for them. I should put them on my list which is on the refrigerator. I never take the list with me but if I write it down it helps me remember it. I bought some chicken today thinking I may make chicken and noodles tomorrow. dooley

Good morning all! Flood update, lots more rain promised tomorrow (second highest level alert). Homes around the most affected parts of the country are getting very anxious about the weekend. People have been sandbagging their premises and also operating water pumps around the clock. Today is calm so far but the rain is said to start from midnight tonight.
    Have a wonderful Friday all!

Good morning all. Taking daughters car to the shop this morning, oldest grandson is to take his driving test this afternoon but the front blinker bulb is out so we have to get that replaced and it involves removing part of the front of the car  He was scheduled to take the test last week but one of the tail lights that no one (except the test giver evidently) even knew the car had was out so it didn't happen. He has taken forever to actually want to learn to drive but not being the only driver in her family will help his Mom have a bit more stay at home time to work on her Masters program.

Oh my gosh Frank, do stay safe!
Good Friday morning all. Currently 5°C and sunny. Started the day off at the skating arena with an ice dance lesson for my daughter - the last one before her test day on Monday. Now home to wrap a few gifts and do a bit of cleanup. I also have some cranberries that I want to turn into sauce and can. Hubby is starting to fix the ceiling in my oldest daughters old room, so we can paint and move the youngest into it. I'm thinking her old room may just become my new craft room :) Have a great day everyone!

Oh, I hope you can make it your craft room. It's so nice to have everything out and not have to keep putting it up when it's meal time or company shows up.
Be sure to include a comfy chair for reading, a CD player for music to work by and lots of favorite wall hangings to make it totally yours.
