Hi everyone! Finally have a little time to pop in and say hello.
No gardening going on at my house. What all the water (and armadillo) didn't kill is out there on it's own. Just waiting for winter to do it's job and hope that next year is better.
All the potted stuff is tucked away either in the house or the "winterhouse".
Looking forward to my long Christmas vacation, hopefully it won't be raining the entire time. Got lots of chores that need done outside. And I'll be visiting my sister in California for New Years.
Will try to pop in more often!

So glad to hear from you! The weather has been a problem for our garden, too, but, like you, we hope next year is better.
Have fun in California over New Years, and if you can post photos of your adventures.

Hi all, went to sleep with the sound of rain, what a blessing as we are still experiencing draught conditions. I've got a braai at my house this afternoon and the poor grass is so patchy and dry for this time of year. Got woken up way to early by a call from work.. Last standby of the year :smt041

Good not exactly morning. Rather like early evening actually, but never mind. So sorry for your loss, toni. Frank, please stay safe and dry. I watched the video. Dear me, I'm lost for words.

We've had a lot of wind and rain lately, but it's going to start snowing tomorrow. About time too, it's mid-December!

Well, back to the decorating business I guess.

It was cloudy all day and not really warm! Tomorrow is going to be 56 degrees F. But, it's going to rain, too. We'll probably stay home since there are no buses on Sunday and that's how we get around now. We went to the new Mongolian restaurant for lunch today. It's a buffet type place and you pick your food from the buffet and take it to the grill and they cook it for you. It was very good. You can go back as many times as you want to go back. We just went the once. It really fills you up. dooley

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 4°C and overcast. Busy day yesterday ... skating, room demolition upstairs, a visit to oldest daughters new house, a trip to the mini mall, and then to buy ingredients for Christmas baking. Today, it looks like my help will be needed getting the new drywall up on the ceiling. I will be glad to have this reno done and my daughter moved into her new room! Have a great day all :)

Netty, I am hesitant to ask....but what did your daughter do in her room to require a new ceiling

Good morning all. Soppy outside with almost an inch of rain that fell overnight. Looking at the radar, it appears that we are almost out of the rain, everything is east of us and heading north. East Texas had at least one tornado a couple of days ago causing damage to about 15 homes in one small town.

Went to the annual christmas party at friends last night....the one where Randy and I usually win the prize for Most Bizarre creation like the igloo being attacked by dinosaurs who ripped off the snowmans head a few years ago. Randy took that title again with his Zombie ornament and he also got the Grinch's Favorite award. I on the other hand got Santa's Least Favorite Ornament award....there was a snowman, snowflakes, fake snow and of course Dinosaurs all involved again.

A fairly lazy day here. The weather was gray and rainy. We had thunderstorms during last night and storms are still to continue through tomorrow. So far, it said 2.5 inches of rain. There were some very large puddles when we ventured out to buy the Sunday papers. But, we didn't get a lot of rain during today, just spotty showers. It was 56 degrees out there today. Normal temp for this day is around 31 degrees. No one is saying when we will have snow. First snow day is usually in November. I do not miss the snow and cold myself but the kids would like some. No snow days from school if there is no snow. dooley

Actually Toni, she didn't do anything! When we moved into the house (13 years ago!!) there was a large plaster patch in the middle of her stucco ceiling - we assumed that the roof leaked at one time and this was how they repaired it. We had intentions of fixing it from the beginning, but it was a messy job and difficult to do when the room was occupied. Fast forward to last week when youngest daughter asked if she could move into her sisters now empty room ... thought it would be a good time to fix it before we put on the new paint color. As usual for this old house, it turned into a HUGE job because of the many layers of plaster and lathe, but now sports drywall.
Good Monday morning all. Currently 8°C and raining. A big day today ... my daughters skating dance test is this afternoon. I am picking her up at lunch from school (and another skater who will be riding with us) and heading to a strange arena for test day. Then home and back to our arena tonight for 2 more hours of skating. Hoping my last 2 packages arrive in the mail today, so I can get some wrapping done. Have a great day all :)

Rain, Rain and more rain. Not a lot in the rain gauge but with 30 mph winds it was cold.

Good morning all! I can't remember a milder December in a long time. It's most likely due to the abundance of rain we have been getting lately. More promised today and the flooding has still not peaked in some areas of the country. The government is coming under a lot of fire for how they are handling the situation and how they had failed to adequately follow up on flood defence plans already proposed.
Hope your weather has been better. Enjoy your day all!

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently 5°C and overcast, with showers and strong winds. We had a thunderstorm last night with strong winds. The wind was so strong it blew my brush pile like a tumbleweed and blew over my Christmas planter! What a mess!
Luckily we didn't lose any trees or have other damage. We were at skating and didn't hear a thing from inside the arena. Daughter passed her dance test yesterday with flying colors YAY and so we move on to the next dance 'baby blues'. Off to pick up a hot dog donation for the soccer club today, and maybe squeeze in some Christmas shopping. Have a great day all :)

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently -1°C and snowing! I don't think it will add up to much, and weatherman says we will have a green Christmas. Wrapping to do today, and maybe a trip out for a few baking items. Tomorrow my son comes home for Christmas! Yay! Have a great day all :)

This is a good Wednesday for us, and I hope it is for all of you! I finished making parmesan cream crackers for the Christmas goodies baskets for our diabetic friends, and this afternoon I'll be assembling gift baskets and plates to deliver tomorrow. I dearly love this time of year--I get to bake to my heart's content, and then run all over town with goodies. Does it get better than this?

Good afternoon all. I have almost forgotten how to type since I have been doing almost nothing but knitting the last few days. Last minute remembering that I had these projects planned for oldest daughter and grandson's sweetheart. I hate it when Thanksgiving falls on the last week of November, that means less time to get gifts bought and/or made.

I'll be making cinnamon bread next week, 5 loaves for Christmas day and then 5 more loaves the day after to take down to Randy's folks for our late holiday with them.
