Toto, I don't think we are in Kansas anymore. The tornadoes are bouncing around south and east of me about 30-35 miles away. I think so far they have determined that there were 3 -5 tornadoes involved in the storm that was huge and contained one wedge tornado (not the typical funnel shaped ones, but one that is as wide or wider than it is tall).
As soon as the cold front moves through the tornado activity will come to an end but it's slow moving and still west of us several miles.

Good Sunday morning all. Currently 0°C and overcast. We had some rain overnight and freezing rain is predicted for later and overnight. We had a wonderful family dinner last night, and today the stock pot is full and simmering on the stove. It already smells divine in here! Lots of clean up to do today, and a laundry pile to the roof. Have a great day all :)

We had torrential rains last night and this morning, but no damage and the hens are dry. I'm worried about Toni--the Dallas area was hit with very strong storms and even tornadoes, and there was some damage and folks are without power.
Netty, I bet your house does smell heavenly! I made split pea and ham soup yesterday, and since I was in the cooking mood I made a pot of minestrone.
This will be a hole-up and read day!

I am home, we were gone all day to Randy's folks and just got home. We were not in the line of fire, so to speak, it was all about 20 miles east of us and moving north. Lots of damage and 11 people killed....they are thinking now that there were about 11 tornadoes bouncing around.

Glad to hear you are fine @toni , terrible damage there.

Good morning all! Terrible weather here too. Lots of flooding still persists and is going to be made worse by heavy rain today and tomorrow also. The land is not getting any break whatsoever, it's soaked.

Sorry I haven't updated the past few days. It's been hectic around here with festivities and relatives visiting. Hope your day is wonderful ahead!

Good Monday morning all. Currently -10°C and breezy. This is the coldest morning so far. I was up bright and early to get my son to work for 5am, and then went back to bed. I was late getting up again, and I feel like I've wasted the day!
Lots to do around the house today, as well as finishing off the painting in the upstairs bedroom. Hubby has threatened to start a new project in the house today, and I would like the last 2 messes cleaned up before that happens. Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. Saturday night tornadoes have really torn up a lot of lives just east of us and now we have our first real winter weather blast making things worse for those who are trying to salvage what little is left of their belongings.

Today I un-decorate, sort through the decorations and whittle them down to only one box again. Our youngest daughter was put on antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection on Saturday but not before she evidently spread it to Randy, he is feeling miserable and just went back to bed.

Toni, if there is anyplace to give donations for those who have lost homes and belongings due to the storms and tornadoes, please let me know. I'd like to add my mite to ease their loss.
Sorry to hear Randy isn't feeling well. I've heard (never tried it myself;)) that a dose of single malt whiskey eases what ails you. My husband swears by it--amazing how a really healthy man comes down with a cold so often . . . .

Good Tuesday morning all. Currently -2°C and freezing rain. We did have strong winds and blowing snow overnight, and then rain and freezing rain. It is NOT a nice day and I would like to be able to stay indoors all day, but I have to take my son to work shortly. I am thankful that I live rural and have all wheel drive ... I will be the only one on the road until we get close to town. Put the garbage out but I'm not sure if the truck will be coming or not. I will spend most of the day inside today, keeping the woodstove stoked. Have a great day all :)

We didn't go out at all today. There was snow and wind last night and we got several inches that turned into snowdrifts. Not many cards left our apartment complex due to the snow. No one shoveled the streets here in the complex and some cars are still snowed under. Those who dug their cars out have 10-12 foot high snow banks in the front of them so some people can't see out of their windows for more the five or six feet. It said the temperature was 21 degrees. More snow is predicted for tonight and into tomorrow. Our son and his family will be returning from Arizona tomorrow. I bet they are wishing they could stay longer. We didn't have snow for Christmas but I think we will have snow for New Years Day because the temps are not supposed to get out of the 20 F's. dooley

Good Wednesday morning all. Currently 0°C and overcast. Well, my daughters room is done and we moved her in yesterday. She has more space now, a nicer closet, as well as a warmer room. Looks like we have decided on turning her old room into my sewing/craft room., but first some repairs, a paint job and re-sealing the (80 year old) hardwood floors. I only wish it was south facing and warmer so I could start my spring seedlings in there too! Lots of re-arranging to do in the back room and living room too, as hubby has torn apart yet another section of wall :smt013! I wish he would finish one thing before he started another! Have a great day all :)

Netty, ever hear of UFO? In the world of crafty (and handy) people they are Un-Finished Objects.....in a knitters case they are the single sock, scarves that are only 12 inches long, sweaters with no sleeves, ... projects started but sidelined by yet another project that came to mind....same for quilters, crocheters and apparently home repair do-it-yourself-ers. :nerdy:

Good morning all. A little frosty outside this morning....better than being a little frosty inside this morning. Randy has "the crud" we ended up at PrimaCare last night to get the official diagnosis....I thought that's what it was but then I am not a doctor with access to drugs for it. Now I have to increase my intake of Vit C, Echinacea, Goldenseal, Propolis/Myrrh and Sambucus to keep from coming down with it too.

Good Thursday morning all. Currently 0°C and overcast. It's very dark outside for 8am, not sure why. There may be snow or rain in the forecast today, I haven't even checked. Off shortly to do some errands and shopping, and then come home to supervise the ongoing construction that seems to be taking place in my house. My daughter and I left DH home alone yesterday for a trip to Costco and came home to a mess. DH had decided to widen the living room doorway. That was in our plans for the new year but I told him I didn't want any more messes until after everything else (including the Christmas things) were cleaned up. Now I am afraid to leave the house :snicker:. Too may UFO's here Toni! Have a great day all :)

Good morning all. It was my turn at PrimaCare last night, I told Randy it wasn't anything like what he and our youngest have had and I was right.....it's just allergies. The north cold wind has been blowing in Ashe Juniper aka mountain cedar. It has been blowing in from the south a lot this fall and now the winter winds are blowing it in from the north and that set my allergy alarm off. Getting better now with some medicine.

Just went to the grocery store to beat the party food preparers crowd and will settle in for a weekend of cool and cloudy. I really hope no one expects me to leave the house for the next 4 days!!!
